White Sox, James McCann Avoid Arbitration
5 years agoThe Chicago White Sox avoided arbitration with catcher James McCann on Monday by agreeing to a one-year, $5.4 million deal, according to sources. McCann was excellent for the Pale Hose last season, hitting .273/.328/.460 with 18 home runs, 62 runs scored and 60 RBI in 439 at-bats as the primary backstop. He earned his first All-Star nod as a result. Unfortunately for McCann, the White Sox signed Yasmani Grandal to be their No. 1 catcher in 2020 and beyond, so he'll be stuck in backup duties next year. That'll obviously depress his numbers significantly and limit his fantasy potential.
