Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid ended speculation about his future on Monday by signing a two-year, $25 million extension. The superstar forward was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in 2026. He will complete an eight-year, $100 million deal with the 2025-26 campaign. The Oilers managed to keep McDavid with a team-friendly deal and must remain competitive or risk losing him in 2028. Despite winning multiple MVP awards and scoring titles, McDavid has yet to lift the Stanley Cup 10 years into his NHL career. He'll be out to record his sixth straight 100-point campaign this season and should easily hit the mark unless he suffers a bad injury.--Taavi Pailk
