Jake Walman Inks Seven-Year Extension With Oilers
Edmonton Oilers defenseman Jake Walman (undisclosed) signed a seven-year, $49 million contract extension on Monday. The deal takes effect starting with the 2026-27 season. Edmonton rewarded Walman generously after a breakout year, during which he nearly doubled his scoring output and posted 40 points (seven goals, 33 assists) with 145 blocks over 65 games with the Oilers and San Jose Sharks. Currently, Walman is nursing an undisclosed injury and might miss Wednesday's season opener against the Calgary Flames. When healthy, he figures to have a regular role in the top four and on the power play this season.
