Wander Franco To Be Benched Through Friday For Disciplinary Reasons
1 year agoTampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash said that shortstop Wander Franco will be benched and is facing a bit of disciplinary action the next two days. It's the reason he was not in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Kansas City Royals, and he'll also be out on Friday, so fantasy managers need to act accordingly and remove him from their lineups. The 22-year-old Dominican is one of the best young shortstops in the game, but the Rays haven't been happy with the way he's handled himself of late amidst a slump that has seen him go 7-for-35 (.200) with no homers, two RBI and 10 strikeouts in his last nine games. He's a must-start in fantasy lineups when he's active, but he won't be back until at least Saturday. Taylor Walls is starting at the 6 and batting sixth for Tampa on Thursday against Royals right-hander Jose Cuas.
