Twins To Sign Rich Hill, Homer Bailey
5 years agoThe Minnesota Twins are signing starting pitchers Rich Hill and Homer Bailey to undisclosed one-year deals on Tuesday, according to a source. Hill is the more attractive piece here, but he isn't expected to be ready for the start of the 2020 season after having left elbow surgery in October. Even though he'll turn 40 years old in March, Hill has remained productive when healthy, but health is the biggest issue with him. The southpaw went 4-1 with a nice 2.45 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 72 K's in 58 2/3 innings over 13 starts for the Dodgers last season. He'll be attractive in mixed leagues in a pitcher-friendly park whenever he's back on the field. Bailey, 34 in May, is just a flier after going 13-9 with a 4.57 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 149 strikeouts in 163 1/3 innings (31 starts) for the Royals and A's last year. He can be a worthwhile matchup-based streamer in Minnesota, but his erratic tendencies make him hard to stomach.
