Sean Payton Optimistic About Javonte Williams' Progress
2 years agoDenver Broncos head coach Sean Payton said that running back Javonte Williams (knee) is "doing well" and said he continues to feel "optimistic" about his progress after he tore his ACL and LCL early last season. Williams was also able to do very limited work during organized team activities, so he appears to be trending in the right direction to be on the field in Week 1 this fall. Still, there's a chance that the 23-year-old back is limited in both training camp and early on in the regular season, keeping his fantasy draft stock down this year. If the tackle-breaking machine returns to full speed sooner than later early in the regular season, he could be a steal as an RB3 on draft day, but Samaje Perine figures to steal plenty of valuable touches early on either way.
