Saquon Barkley Could Get Franchise Tag Again Next Year
1 year agoNew York Giants running back Saquon Barkley agreed to a new one-year deal that adds $1 million worth of incentives on Monday, but he didn't get a "no-franchise-tag" clause, meaning the Giants can tag him again after the 2023 season, according to a source. His new deal is worth $10.1 million fully guaranteed, including a $2 million up-front signing bonus. If Barkley reaches 1,300 rushing yards, 11 touchdowns and 65 receptions, he'll earn an extra $1 million. Contract-issues aside, Barkley is now locked into the fold for the G-Men this year as a strong top-eight RB1 in fantasy that does most of the heavy lifting for the Giants offense. He made his second Pro Bowl in 2022 by rushing for a career-high 1,312 yards and 10 TDs on 295 carries, adding 57 receptions for 338 yards through the air in 16 regular-season starts.
