The New Orleans Saints released quarterback Ian Book on Tuesday, according to a source. Book will be a practice-squad target if he clears waivers. In the team's preseason finale last Friday against the Los Angeles Chargers, the 24-year-old went 11-for-15 for 81 yards and a touchdown, also adding a 50-yard run. The Saints will roll with starter Jameis Winston and backup Andy Dalton into Week 1 of the regular season, and Book would be the third option if he rejoins the team. The former fourth-round pick last year started one game in his rookie season in 2021, going 12-for-20 for 135 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in a 20-3 loss to the Miami Dolphins.--Keith Hernandez
