Pete Alonso Extends Home Run Drought to 12 Games
Pete Alonso went 1-for-3 with a single, a walk, and a strikeout in Monday's 3-1 loss to the Boston Red Sox. Alonso narrowly missed a home run in his first at-bat, driving the ball off the top of the Green Monster at Fenway Park. He was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double. Alonso has now gone 12 straight games without a homer and has collected just eight hits in 47 at-bats during that span. However, the 30-year-old slugger still boasts an excellent .301/.408/.557 line with nine homers, 37 RBI, and a .415 wOBA in 211 plate appearances this season. He's scheduled to face Red Sox right-hander Walker Buehler on Tuesday, and if history indicates, it may bring about the end of Alonso's HR drought. He has feasted in matchups against Buehler, going 5-for-14 with four homers and eight RBI, making him an intriguing DFS play on Tuesday.
