Bryce Rainer to Undergo Season-Ending Shoulder Surgery
Source: Evan Petzold
Detroit Tigers infield prospect Bryce Rainer (shoulder) is set to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery after suffering a dislocated shoulder. Evan Petzold of The Detroit Free Press noted that the team expects him to be ready for the start of spring training. Rainer was selected with the 11th overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft out of Harvard-Westlake HS. The 19-year-old made his professional debut at the start of this season with Low-A Lakeland. Through 35 contests, Rainer posted a strong .288/.383/.448 slash line with five doubles, five home runs, and nine stolen bases. Rainer is currently considered the No. 3-ranked prospect in the system and the No. 47-ranked in the sport on MLB.com. Fantasy managers should expect Rainer to open the 2026 season with Low-A.Francisco Lindor Out Again on Friday With Toe Injury
Francisco Lindor (toe) will miss a second straight game in Friday's series opener at Coors Field against the hosting Colorado Rockies. Lindor fractured his right pinkie toe when he was hit by a pitch in Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers and will now miss his second straight game. The good news is that Lindor isn't expected to land on the injured list because of the injury, and he could return as soon as Saturday. It will be more of a pain-tolerance issue for the 31-year-old All-Star. Fantasy managers can only hope that it won't affect his offensive production moving forward. The Puerto Rican infielder is one of the best shortstops in the game and currently has a .279/.353/.490 slash line with an .843 OPS, 14 long balls, 36 RBI, 42 runs and 11 steals in 247 at-bats. Ronny Mauricio is at short and is batting ninth on Friday against lefty opener Ryan Rolison.Source: MLB.com
New York Mets shortstop Tyler Seguin Nursing a Shoulder Injury
Source: Lia Assimakopoulos
Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin played through a shoulder injury during the postseason, general manager Jim Nill revealed on Friday. Seguin's regular-season campaign was also disrupted by injury, as he made only 20 appearances due to hip surgery. He notched nine goals and 21 points, showing that he can still be productive as a 33-year-old. However, Seguin's form declined during the postseason, with just eight points (four goals and four assists) in 18 games. The veteran forward does not require surgery to address his shoulder issue and is expected to be fully healthy for the start of the 2025-26 season.Padres Non-Tender Jay Groome
Jay Groome. Groome was suspended for one season after violating the league's gambling policy. In 2023, the southpaw spent his entire campaign with Triple-A El Paso. Across 134 2/3 innings, the left-hander posted a high 8.55 ERA with a 2.10 WHIP. During this stint, he struck out 137 batters but served up a high 112 free passes. However, during the 2022 campaign, Groome showed potential at the Triple-A level. Across time with Worcester and El Paso, Groome held a 3.34 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP across 67 1/3 innings of work. Given his struggles during the 2023 season, fantasy managers should not expect Groome to draw much interest in free agency. If he were to sign a contract, he would likely spend the remainder of the season in the minor leagues.Source: Dennis Lin
The San Diego Padres have non-tendered left-handed pitcher Xander Bogaerts Returns to Lineup on Friday
Xander Bogaerts (shoulder) is back at shortstop and is hitting sixth for Friday's series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field. Bogaerts is back in action this weekend after sitting out Thursday's loss to the San Francisco Giants with soreness in his left shoulder. The 32-year-old veteran shortstop continues to be very mediocre for fantasy managers in his third season with the Padres. The four-time All-Star is currently hitting .238/.321/.330 with a career-worst .651 OPS, only three home runs, 21 RBI and 24 runs scored in 60 games played. He is on pace to set a new career-high in steals with 11, though, and Bogaerts' .256 expected batting average means there could still be a couple decent runs left in him this year. Still, he's not giving DFS managers much upside at the plate.Source: MLB.com
San Diego Padres shortstop Brady House Nearing MLB Debut
Brady House is nearing his MLB debut. According to Mark Zuckerman of MASN, the infielder has performed well at Triple-A, and it is only a "matter of when" until he earns a promotion. House made his Triple-A debut during the 2024 campaign but struggled during his first taste of the upper levels of the minor leagues. Across 54 contests, House posted a .250/.280/.375 line with 10 doubles and six home runs. However, this season, the No. 94-ranked prospect in baseball on MLB.com has taken a significant step forward at Triple-A. Through 57 games at Triple-A, House has posted an elite .296/.351/.527 slash line with 14 doubles and 12 long balls. With Jose Tena and Amed Rosario providing inconsistent production at the hot corner, House would provide a significant upgrade at that position. For now, fantasy managers in 12-team leagues should view him as a solid stash candidate.Source: Mark Zuckerman
Washington Nationals infield prospect Pete DeBoer Fired by Stars
Source: NHL.com
The Dallas Stars fired head coach Pete DeBoer on Friday. His departure follows Dallas' 4-1 loss in the Western Conference Finals against the Edmonton Oilers. DeBoer joined the Stars in 2022, guiding the team to the Western Finals in each season. He posted a 149-68-29 regular-season record with the team and had the highest points percentage in the NHL (.665). So far, nine teams have changed coaches after the regular season ended. DeBoer, who had one year left on his contract, should have no trouble securing another head coaching gig soon if he wants. With a career record of 662-447-152, DeBoer ranks fourth in wins among active coaches and has led his teams to at least the Conference Finals eight times over the last 14 seasons.Luis Arraez Serving as DH on Friday

Jaison Chourio Returns From High-A Injured List
Jaison Chourio (shoulder) was activated off the 7-day injured list prior to their contest on Friday. Chourio is considered the No. 3-ranked prospect in the system and the No. 53-ranked prospect in baseball on MLB.com. The 20-year-old has spent the majority of the campaign with High-A Lake County and posted a .214/.396/.271 slash line with one double and one home run. He has shown a strong eye at the plate, drawing 21 walks and only striking out 17 times. Last season, the young outfielder spent most of his time with Low-A, where he posted a strong .269/.414/.398 line with 24 doubles and five home runs across 98 games. Chourio has continued to show an elite eye at the plate. If he continues to find his swing at High-A, he could be in the mix to reach Double-A in the second half of the season.Source: Cleveland Guardians
Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Stuart Skinner Seeks Sixth Consecutive Win Friday
Source: Tony Brar
Edmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner will hope to extend a five-game winning streak in Friday's Finals matchup against the Florida Panthers. He started the Finals with a 29-save effort in Game 1, helping the team to a 4-3 overtime victory. This was only the third time in his past eight appearances that Skinner allowed more than two goals. After a horrible start to the postseason, he has completely turned things around, going 7-4 in 11 starts. Skinner owns a 2.50 goals-against average with a .904 save percentage and has posted three shutouts. Another victory on Friday night would tie Skinner for the fifth-longest postseason winning streak in Oilers history.Carlos Correa Remains Out of Twins Lineup
Carlos Correa (back) is out of the starting lineup again for Friday's series opener against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays at Target Field. Brooks Lee will make another start at shortstop while batting fifth against Blue Jays right-hander Paxton Schultz. Correa developed some back stiffness in Sacramento earlier this week against the Athletics and will now miss his third straight game. For now, he's being considered day-to-day, but this is definitely something that could eventually send the 30-year-old veteran to the injured list, especially if he doesn't play at all this weekend. Correa is hitting a modest .241 (45-for-187) this year with only five home runs, 19 RBI and 23 runs scored. A .270 xBA shows that better times are likely on the way, though. Lee is a former eighth overall pick in 2022 and is hitting .243/.282/.343 with four homers and 20 RBI in his 47 games in 2025.Source: MLB.com
Minnesota Twins shortstop Sergei Bobrovsky Looks to Return to Winning Ways Friday
Source: Jameson Olive
Florida Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky will make his 19th start of the postseason in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Edmonton Oilers on Friday night. The former Vezina Trophy winner kicked off the Final with a solid performance, stopping 42 shots, though he suffered a 4-3 overtime defeat in Game 1. Bobrovsky has lost two of his last three starts, which has dropped his playoff record to 12-6. He has posted a 2.17 goals-against average with a .912 save percentage. The Panthers have only lost back-to-back games once this postseason, so Bobrovsky appears well-positioned to return to winning ways on Friday.A.J. Greer Remains Out Friday
Source: Sportsnet
Florida Panthers left wing A.J. Greer (lower body) has been ruled out for Friday's Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Edmonton Oilers. The fourth-line grinder was injured late in the Eastern Conference Finals and must wait for his chance to play against the Oilers due to a lower-body injury. Jesper Boqvist is expected to continue filling in for Greer. The Swedish forward experienced some success in a top-line role earlier in the postseason but was quiet on the fourth line in Game 1 against Edmonton. He logged 7:58 of ice time, finishing with one hit.Michael Massey Sitting Out Versus White Sox
Michael Massey is not in the team's starting lineup for Friday's series opener on the road against the division-rival Chicago White Sox. Rookie Jac Caglianone is serving as the team's designated hitter and is batting sixth against White Sox right-hander Davis Martin. Massey could start to lose more playing time with Caglianone, one of the best prospects in all of baseball, now in town. The 27-year-old left-handed hitter is barely above the Mendoza Line as a hitter and has contributed just two home runs, 14 RBI, 10 runs scored and a stolen base in 195 at-bats over 54 games in his fourth season in the big leagues. In his last seven games since May 24, Massey has gone 4-for-27 (.148) with a run scored, one walk and five strikeouts. He should be on the waiver wire in all mixed fantasy leagues.Source: MLB.com
Kansas City Royals second baseman Steven Kwan Out Against Lefty
Steven Kwan is not in the team's starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the visiting Houston Astros at Progressive Field. Daniel Schneemann will get the start in left field and will bat fifth against Astros rookie left-hander Colton Gordon. Kwan doesn't hold much power but is still one of the best table-setters and contact men in the game, but he's struggled of late and went 7-for-32 (.219) with a homer, three RBI and a stolen base in his last nine games played. The 27-year-old is still hitting a strong .306 (72-for-235) on the year for fantasy managers with five homers, 21 RBI, 30 runs and eight steals. Schneemann will be a deep DFS sleeper while replacing Kwan. He has hit .200 (4-for-20) in limited at-bats against lefties this year, and all seven of his long balls have come off righties.Source: MLB.com

Michael Busch Taking a Seat on Friday
Michael Busch will sit out of Friday's lineup against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park with tough left-hander Tarik Skubal on the mound. Veteran Justin Turner will make the start at first base and will hit eighth in the batting order. Busch is currently in the midst of a seven-game hitting streak in which he's gone 10-for-23 with two home runs, so he'll be hoping to continue that streak when he returns to action on Saturday. The 27-year-old left-handed hitter is a big reason why the Cubs have had one of the best offenses in baseball this year, slashing .275/.374/.508 with an .882 OPS, nine home runs, 36 RBI, 27 runs scored and three steals in 189 at-bats. Turner has slowed near the end of his career and is no longer an everyday bat, making him one to avoid near the bottom of the lineup against one of the best pitchers in MLB.Source: MLB.com
Chicago Cubs first baseman Corbin Burnes to Undergo Tommy John Surgery
Corbin Burnes (elbow) will undergo Tommy John surgery next week, according to manager Torey Lovullo. We knew things didn't look good when Burnes went for a second opinion on his injured right elbow after he landed on the injured list earlier this week with inflammation in his arm. The 30-year-old veteran will now miss the rest of the 2025 season and most likely at least half of 2026 as well. It's a big blow for fantasy managers and the D-backs, as he was serving as the club's ace and will finish his first year in the desert with a 3-2 record, 2.66 ERA (3.89 FIP) and 1.17 WHIP with 63 strikeouts and 26 walks in 64 1/3 innings pitched over 11 starts. Fantasy managers can now safely drop the four-time All-Star and former Cy Young in redraft leagues. Right-hander Ryne Nelson has entered the rotation and could stick around for the foreseeable future.Source: The Arizona Republic - Jose M. Romero
Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Corbin Carroll Sitting Versus Southpaw
Corbin Carroll will take a seat on the bench in Friday's series opener against the hosting Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ballpark with a left-hander on the mound. With Carroll resting, veteran Randal Grichuk will start in right field and bat fifth against Reds southpaw Nick Lodolo. Grichuk has typically been a lefty killer in his career, but he's hit .224 (15-for-67) with two of his three home runs against them this year and he's also gone hitless in three career at-bats against Lodolo. Carroll is one of the best all-around players in the game and rarely takes a day off, so we should see him back in there for Game 2 of the series in Cincy on Saturday. The 24-year-old former first-rounder is hitting .259 but with an xBA of .275, and he's already clubbed 18 long balls, driven in 39, scored 49 runs and stolen 10 bags.Source: MLB.com
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder J.T. Realmuto Back in Phillies Lineup
J.T. Realmuto (groin) is returning to the starting lineup for Friday's contest against the hosting Pittsburgh Pirates and left-hander Bailey Falter, doing the catching for right-hander Joe Ross and hitting fifth. Realmuto took a foul ball off his groin late in Wednesday's game and was held out of Thursday's game as a result. Now that the 34-year-old veteran backstop is back in the lineup, he'll try to break out of a current slump that has seen him record only four hits in his last eight games played. Realmuto's .254 expected batting average point to some positive regression coming for the three-time All-Star, but so far in 2025, he's been a disappointment for his fantasy managers. He enters Friday's game slashing .226/.297/.358 with five home runs, 22 RBI, 18 runs and four stolen bases. Realmuto is hitless in two career at-bats against Falter.Source: MLB.com
Philadelphia Phillies catcher Bryce Harper Day-to-Day With Sore Wrist, Not Playing on Friday

Kyle Teel Catching and Batting Sixth in MLB Debut
Kyle Teel is doing the catching and is batting sixth in his major-league debut on Friday against the division-rival Kansas City Royals and right-hander Seth Lugo. Fellow catching prospect Edgar Quero will head to the bench, and he figures to lose playing time going forward if Teel asserts himself immediately with the lumber. Quero is still searching for his first homer while batting .256/.343/.306 in 121 at-bats. Teel, the club's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline, had an .886 OPS with eight home runs and seven stolen bases at Triple-A Charlotte to earn the big-league promotion. The 23-year-old left-handed hitter was the former 14th overall pick by the Boston Red Sox in 2023 out of Virginia. Teel hits from the left side and has a higher offensive ceiling than most catchers, making him worth an immediate waiver-wire pickup in single-year fantasy leagues.Source: MLB.com
Chicago White Sox catching prospect Luis Robert Jr. Returning on Friday
Luis Robert Jr. (head) is back in center field and is hitting seventh for Friday's contest against the division-rival Kansas City Royals and right-hander Seth Lugo. Robert was given Tuesday and Wednesday off for a mental break. He also missed Thursday's contest after being hit in the head during batting practice on a ricochet. The 27-year-old is back now, though, and will be hoping to break out of his slump against a pitcher that he hasn't recorded a hit against in seven career at-bats. Outside of his league-best 21 stolen bases, the Cuban slugger and former All-Star has been a disappointment, hitting just .177 (34-for-192) with five home runs, 20 RBI and 24 runs scored in 55 games played. Robert has a strikeout rate just shy of 33% in his last 25 games. Perhaps fantasy managers will want to keep him benched until he shows signs of turning it around.Source: MLB.com
Chicago White Sox outfielder Josh Naylor Out on Friday
Josh Naylor (hand, shoulder) is not in the team's starting lineup for Friday's series opener in Cincinnati against the Reds at Great American Ballpark. Rookie Tim Tawa is starting at first base and will hit eighth against Reds left-hander Nick Lodolo. Naylor was pulled from Thursday's come-from-behind win over the Atlanta Braves with soreness in both his hand and shoulder, and the D-backs will hold him out a day later against a left-handed pitcher. The 27-year-old is being considered day-to-day and could be back as early as Game 2 of the series in Cincy on Saturday. Tawa, who has never faced Lodolo in his career, will be a low-upside DFS dart throw as a sleeper on Friday. He's hitting just .218 (24-for-110) in a utility role and has six home runs and six RBI in his first 40 major-league games.Source: The Arizona Republic - Jose M. Romero
Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Elly De La Cruz, Gavin Lux Out Against Diamondbacks
Elly De La Cruz and second baseman Gavin Lux are both out of the starting lineup for Friday's contest against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks. De La Cruz remains on the bereavement list after his sister passed away earlier this week, while Lux will sit with left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez on the mound. Matt McLain is moving to shortstop and will bat eighth, while Garrett Hampson is starting at second base and batting ninth against Rodriguez. McLain has never faced E-Rod, while Hampson has a hit and an RBI against him in just three career at-bats. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect De La Cruz to return to Cincy's lineup until Monday's series finale in Cleveland against the Guardians. Lux has hit well in his first season with the Reds, but he's batting just .133 (4-for-30) against lefties in 25 games.Source: MLB.com
Cincinnati Reds shortstop Daylen Lile Sent to Triple-A
Daylen Lile to Triple-A Rochester on Friday and activated outfielder Jacob Young (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move, according to the team. Lile, the team's No. 9 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will head back to the minors for more seasoning after going 6-for-31 (.194) with three doubles, a triple, two RBI and four runs scored in his first 11 major-league contests. With some of Washington's outfielders banged up, Lile was playing nearly every day. It was good experience for the 22-year-old youngster, but he'll now return to Rochester and hope for another promotion late in the season. The former second-rounder in 2021 will return to a .361/.432/.514 slash line in 18 games played for Rochester. Lile could develop 15-homer pop in time and certainly has the speed to steal 20-plus bases.Source: The Washington Post - Spencer Nusbaum

Ryan Ritter Promoted to Major Leagues
Ryan Ritter to the major leagues. In a corresponding move, the Rockies are placing shortstop Ezequiel Tovar (oblique) on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain. Ritter is currently considered the No. 12-ranked prospect in the Colorado system on MLB.com. The 24-year-old made his Triple-A debut at the start of the campaign and has performed at a high level. Through 52 total games, the infielder has posted a stellar .302/.413/.635 slash line with 13 doubles, 16 home runs, and three stolen bases. He has tallied 45 RBI and scored 44 runs. He was riding an 18-game hitting streak at Triple-A, where he posted an elite .443/.489/.987 line. With Tovar hitting the IL, fantasy managers should expect Ritter to see close to an everyday role in the starting nine. Given his high power upside, he is worth adding in all standard leagues.Source: Colorado Rockies
The Colorado Rockies are promoting infield prospect Gardner Minshew II Throwing at OTAs
Gardner Minshew II (collarbone) has been throwing during voluntary organized team activities. Minshew broke his collarbone in 2024 while with the Las Vegas Raiders and was limited to 10 games (nine starts), in which he threw for 2,013 yards, nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions in his only year in the desert. Now that he's recovered from the injury, the 29-year-old signal-caller is expected to open the 2025 season as the backup to starter Patrick Mahomes, with Bailey Zappe likely being named the third-stringer. Minshew was a first-time Pro Bowler in 2023 with the Indianapolis Colts, but he'll be off the fantasy radar completely in his seventh season in the NFL as long as Mahomes stays healthy.Source: Citrus County Chronicle
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Rondale Moore Active at OTAs
Rondale Moore (knee) has been participating in the team's voluntary organized team activities. Moore didn't play at all last year with the Atlanta Falcons after suffering a season-ending knee injury before the season started. The 24-year-old pass-catcher is now healthy and is trying to carve out a depth role in his first year with Minnesota behind Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and Jalen Nailor. The former second-round pick (49th overall) by the Arizona Cardinals in 2021 out of Purdue caught 135 passes on 182 targets for 1,201 yards and three touchdowns (one each year) in his first three years in the NFL in Arizona. Not only will Moore probably not be on the field all that much if Jefferson, Addison and Nailor stay healthy, but he could have lost notable speed after his serious knee injury. Moore is off the fantasy radar for now in most leagues.Source: Vikings.com
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver
