Spire Motorsports driver Carson Hocevar's performance during Sunday's FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway held promise, but ended with a disappointing finish of 29th. Beginning Sunday's race from the 14th position, Hocevar ascended a few positions in the first stage, reaching 10th by the end of the stage and gathering one stage point. The second stage is where Hocevar started to become one of the top racers in the field as his team executed on pit stops to get him track position in the top five. By the end of stage two, Hocevar kept up with the fastest drivers and finished third, collecting eight more stage points. In the final stage, Hocevar continued to run inside the top five for most of the stage, but eventually inherited the lead on lap 152. Hocevar looked like he was going to compete for the win while saving fuel until he had a race-altering setback on lap 182 as his left rear tire went flat, sending him to pit road. Hocevar could not recover from the flat tire, lost a lap, and finished in the 29th position, marking the second time in three weeks that a technical issue ruined his chance to win a race.--Sean Engel - RotoBaller
