Jacob Cowing Expected to Return to Practice on Tuesday
Jacob Cowing (hamstring) is expected to return to practice on Tuesday, according to David Lombardi of the SF Standard. Cowing has been nursing a hamstring injury that he suffered a few weeks ago, but he looks set to return to the practice field before the second preseason game. The 49ers receiver room has been dealing with multiple injuries, including Jauan Jennings, Brandon Aiyuk, and most recently, rookie Jordan Watkins. Cowing had an uneventful rookie season but had gaudy production during college and has an opportunity to emerge. He won't be on many fantasy radars in drafts, but he could be a name to keep in mind as the season gets closer.Source: David Lombardi
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Gustavo Campero Carted Off Field Monday With Leg Injury
Gustavo Campero (leg) suffered what appeared to be a serious leg injury trying to rob a Max Muncy home run in Monday's game against the Dodgers. Campero leapt onto the right-field wall in the eighth inning and got his cleats caught up in the padding of the wall. He immediately went to the warning track and was carted off the field. Christian Moore came into the game in Campero's lineup spot to play second, and Luis Renfigo moved to right field. The 27-year-old put up great numbers at Triple-A Salt Lake and was getting an opportunity with the Angels, making his injury even more unfortunate. Fantasy managers should look for further news after the game.Source: Jack Janes - X.com
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Myles Garrett Cited for Driving 100 Miles Per Hour
Cleveland Browns superstar defensive end Myles Garrett was cited by police in Strongsville, Ohio, for driving 100 miles per hour in a 60-mph zone, according to Sarah Jean Maher and Zac Jackson of The Athletic. This marks Garrett's eighth speeding violation since being drafted by Cleveland in 2017. In September 2022, Garrett was speeding when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed, suffering injuries that forced him to miss a game. The 29-year-old was issued a $250 ticket for this most recent offense and will not have to attend court. While Garrett is unlikely to face league-mandated punishment, the repeated nature of his speeding habit is still a trend worth monitoring.Astros Recall Jacob Melton From Triple-A
Jacob Melton from Triple-A on Monday, adding speed to their bench. The 24-year-old last appeared with the club on July 29 and has slashed just .206/.270/.265 over 13 games this season. While Melton swiped 30 bases last year in the minors, a 37.8% strikeout rate in the majors has limited his opportunities. If Houston can find ways to get him on base, he could offer steals for fantasy managers in need. Otherwise, Melton's role will likely be limited, making him more of a watch-list option than an immediate add in most formats.Source: Houston Astros
The Houston Astros recalled outfielder Josh Hader Unavailable Monday Due To Shoulder Discomfort
Josh Hader (shoulder) was unavailable to close out the game due to shoulder discomfort, and that he will be undergoing tests. While fantasy managers should wait for more definitive news, it is always worrying to hear about shoulder issues for pitchers. Hader has been excellent once again this season, converting 28 of 29 save opportunities with a 2.05 ERA, a 0.85 WHIP, and a 36.9% strikeout rate in 52 2/3 innings of work. Bennett Sousa picked up his fourth save of the season in Hader's absence, and he has pitched well with a 2.64 ERA and a 10.20 K/9 rate. The Astros also have Bryan Abreu, who has been outstanding but has been utilized mostly in the eighth inning. As such, Sousa may be fantasy managers' best bet for saves should Hader have to miss any time.Source: Chandler Rome - X.com

Twins Promote Dasan Hill to High-A Cedar Rapids
Source: Seth Stohs
Minnesota Twins ninth-ranked prospect Dasan Hill has been promoted from Single-A Fort Myers to High-A Cedar Rapids. The 19-year-old left-hander impressed in Low-A with a 2.77 ERA, 30.6% strikeout rate, and 14.9% walk rate. Standing 6'5", Hill works with a fastball that touches 96 mph, a low-80s sweeper, an upper-70s curveball, and a changeup with strong movement. His size, velocity, and four-pitch mix give him intriguing long-term upside, especially in dynasty leagues. While he's still several years from the majors, Hill is a prospect worth monitoring as he continues his development in the Twins' system. Will Clapp Likely to Miss 2025 Season
Source: Jordan Schultz
New Orleans Saints center Will Clapp (foot) has suffered a serious foot injury that is believed to be season-ending, according to Jordan Schultz. Clapp is awaiting final confirmation on his test results, but will most likely require surgery. The 29-year-old has played in 66 career NFL games (22 starts) across seven NFL seasons. He spent 2024 with the Buffalo Bills but appeared in just one game. Clapp was in line to be a depth piece on the interior of the offensive line in New Orleans. Without him, Kyle Hergel could be the next man up if Saints starting center Erik McCoy were to get injured.Lars Nootbaar Day-to-Day With Left-Knee Bruising
Lars Nootbaar (knee) exited Monday's 3-2 win over the Rockies early after fouling a ball off of his left knee. He fouled the ball off his knee in the third inning and stayed in for one more at-bat before being replaced defensively by Jordan Walker. Nootbaar finished with an 0-for-3 effort. X-rays on his knee came back negative, and the Cardinals listed him as day-to-day, per MLB.com's John Denton. The 27-year-old has not been able to get things fully going from a fantasy perspective this season, slashing .227/.324/.375 with 12 home runs, 51 runs scored, 40 RBI, and four stolen bases in 413 plate appearances. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on the Cardinals' lineup in the coming days.Source: John Denton - X.com
St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jacob Misiorowski Could Require Rehab Start
Jacob Misiorowski (tibia) could require a rehab start, but it is still to be decided, reports Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. General manager Matt Arnold stated that they are still analyzing the situation and will make a decision within the next few days. Misiorowski most recently tossed 60 pitches during three simulated innings, so building up his arm seemingly isn't much of a concern. The 23-year-old landed on the injured list with a tibia contusion, an injury that is considered very minor. The young phenom posted a 2.70 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with 47 strikeouts in 33 ⅓ innings prior to the injury, and he figures to be a key part of Milwaukee's rotation for the stretch run.Source: Adam McCalvy
Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Ryan Yarbrough Tosses Live Batting Practice
Ryan Yarbrough (oblique) recently completed a live batting practice session, reports Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. He had two "ups" during the batting practice, and could potentially be in store for a longer buildup to restore his stamina. The 33-year-old last pitched on June 18 before suffering a strained oblique. He was used both as a starting pitcher and long reliever at times this season for the Yankees, and it's not clear which of those roles he would fill upon his return. It seems that they want to at least stretch him out to be a starter, if necessary. The lefty has posted a 3.90 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 55 ⅓ innings so far in 2025.Source: Bryan Hoch
New York Yankees pitcher Fernando Cruz Ready for Rehab Assignment
Fernando Cruz (oblique) threw 19 pitches in a live batting practice session on Monday and is looking at a three-appearance rehab stint before being activated, reports Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. He last pitched in a major league game on June 27, before landing on the injured list with a strained oblique. Rehab assignments typically go much quicker for relievers than starters since they don't have to wait almost a week between outings, so Cruz could potentially be activated as soon as next week if things go according to plan. He was very good prior to the injury, posting a 3.00 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with 54 strikeouts in 33 innings.Source: Bryan Hoch
New York Yankees relief pitcher Michael Kopech Completes Live Batting Practice Session
Michael Kopech (knee) threw a live batting practice session on Monday and could be ready for a rehab assignment next, reports Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register. It's been an abbreviated season so far for the 29-year-old, who didn't make his 2025 debut until June 8 due to forearm and shoulder injuries. If he can get healthy and return to his recent form, he should be able to rejoin the mix as a high-leverage reliever for the Dodgers in September and the playoffs. In his eight appearances on the season, he pitched seven innings without allowing a run.Source: Bill Plunkett
Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Tanner Scott Could Face Hitters Next Week
Tanner Scott (elbow) could be ready to face live hitters next week, reports Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register. No official timetable has been revealed for the lefty, although his most recent step in recovery was throwing a bullpen session last week. He has been out since July 21 with elbow inflammation, and it looks like late August would be a best-case scenario for his return at this point. The 31-year-old will presumably step back into the mix for saves in Los Angeles, where he will hope to add to his current tally of 19 saves.Source: Bill Plunkett
Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Miguel Vargas Takes Batting Practice
Miguel Vargas (oblique) took batting practice on Monday, reports Scott Merkin of MLB.com. He reportedly felt very good after the fact and is hopeful to return to the roster without a rehab assignment. The 25-year-old has been on the 10-day injured list since August 1 with an oblique strain, so it looks like he could return with missing almost the minimum amount of time. The youngster has been starting to find himself at the plate and establish himself at the big league level with everyday playing time in Chicago, tallying 13 home runs, 44 RBI, and 57 runs in 106 games.Source: Scott Merkin
Chicago White Sox third baseman Denzel Clarke Close to Return
Denzel Clarke (hip) is close to returning from the injured list, reports Jessica Kleinschmidt of Baseball America. General manager David Forst stated that he "is close to going out and playing", although he didn't clarify if a rehab assignment would be needed. Clarke has been out since July 20 with a right adductor strain. While he hit for just a .230 batting average and .274 on-base percentage, the 25-year-old did impress with three home runs, six stolen bases, and several defensive gems in 47 games so far in 2025. His defense alone should get him back into the lineup in center field once he is healthy.Source: Jessica Kleinschmidt
Athletics outfielder Trevor Siemian Signs With Titans
Trevor Siemian and waived fellow signal-caller Tim Boyle. Siemian spent time with the Titans in 2020 and 2024, but he has never appeared in a regular-season game with the team. The 33-year-old debuted with the Denver Broncos in 2015 and has since played in 40 games (33 starts), completed 58.5% of passes, and thrown 44 touchdowns against 32 interceptions. Siemian will now replace Boyle as the Titans' third quarterback behind rookie starter Cam Ward and veteran backup Brandon Allen. Boyle completed just 4-of-13 passes for 24 yards and two interceptions in the Titans' 29-7 preseason-opening loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday. Allen didn't shine either, going 6-for-12 for 62 yards and a pick. He'll have an opportunity to improve when the Titans face the Atlanta Falcons in their second preseason game on Friday. It's unclear if Siemian will see any action.Source: Jim Wyatt
The Tennessee Titans have signed free-agent quarterback Shane McClanahan has Surgery, Won't Return in 2025
Shane McClanahan (triceps) had surgery on his left triceps on Monday to try and address a lingering nerve issue in his arm, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. McClanahan will now officially miss the rest of the season. "(The doctor) is not sitting there saying 'he's fixed.' That's not the case. It's, 'This is one step, and we'll see how this goes.' And hopefully we get good results. And if we don't, then let doctors decide what else is needed, if anything," manager Kevin Cash said. The 28-year-old southpaw made three minor-league rehab starts before being shut down, and what Cash had to say isn't very encouraging going into the offseason and next year. McClanahan, the former 31st overall pick in 2018 out of South Florida has not pitched in the big leagues since 2023 due to injuries, so it's fair to wonder if he can recapture his All-Star form in 2026.Source: Tampa Bay Times - Marc Topkin
Tampa Bay Rays left-hander Ameer Abdullah Placed on Season-Ending Injured Reserve
Ameer Abdullah (ribs) on season-ending Injured Reserve, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Abdullah, who just joined the 49ers as a free agent on July 31, suffered a rib injury in a preseason-opening 30-9 loss to the Denver Broncos this past Saturday. While the 32-year-old was unlikely to make much of an impact this season (if any), it's another hit to San Francisco's depth in the backfield. The team is already set to go multiple weeks without injured Christian McCaffrey backups Isaac Guerendo (shoulder) and Jordan James (finger). The 49ers brought back Jeff Wilson Jr. in free agency on Sunday in the wake of Abdullah's injury to provide some much-needed healthy depth behind McCaffrey.Source: Adam Schefter
The San Francisco 49ers have placed running back Pierre Strong Jr. Limited on Monday
Pierre Strong Jr. (undisclosed) returned to practice as a limited participant on Monday. Strong had been down with an undisclosed injury. After appearing in 14 games and rushing for 108 yards on 26 carries last year, Strong is competing for a backup role this summer. He's currently third on the Browns' unofficial depth chart behind Jerome Ford and rookie fourth-round pick Dylan Sampson. The team also has rookie second-rounder Quinshon Judkins, who remains without a contract as he deals with an ongoing misdemeanor battery/domestic violence case. The longer Judkins is away, the more opportunities Strong should receive. Strong didn't play in the Browns' 30-10 preseason-opening win in Carolina last week, and it's unclear if he'll suit up against the Philadelphia Eagles this Saturday.Source: Kelsey Russo - ClevelandBrowns.com
Cleveland Browns running back Javier Baez Expected to See More Time in Center Field
Javier Baez is expected to see some playing time in center field along with Wenceel Perez with outfielder Matt Vierling (oblique) on the 10-day injured list. The Tigers called up Trey Sweeney from Triple-A Toledo for more infield depth up the middle. Baez indeed got the start in center in Monday's series opener against the division-rival Chicago White Sox and hit ninth in the batting order, while Zach McKinstry got the start at the 6. The 32-year-old Baez will probably move back to shortstop once Parker Meadows (quadriceps) comes back from the injured list. Baez has had an unexpected resurgent season in 2025 for the Tigers, making the All-Star team for the third time in his career. He's been versatile on defense, too, and has already played center field 37 times this year.Source: MLB.com - Jason Beck
MLB.com's Jason Beck writes that Detroit Tigers shortstop Keaton Mitchell Still Not Practicing
Keaton Mitchell (undisclosed) once again did not practice on Monday, according to Brian Wacker of the Baltimore Sun. Mitchell, who's dealing with an undisclosed injury, hasn't practiced since an impressive preseason-opening performance against the Indianapolis Colts last Thursday. The 23-year-old carried the ball nine times for a team-high 68 yards and a touchdown in the Ravens' 24-16 win. Mitchell missed all but five games last season while recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in 2023, his rookie campaign. If he's healthy this year, Mitchell will vie for touches behind superstar workhorse Derrick Henry. The Ravens are set to play their next preseason game on Saturday in Dallas, but it's unclear if Mitchell will be available to follow up on his productive showing from last week.Source: Brian Wacker - Baltimore Sun
Baltimore Ravens running back Evan Carter Could Start Rehab Assignment on Tuesday
Evan Carter (back) took live batting practice on Monday and could start a minor-league rehab assignment as early as Tuesday, according to MLB.com's Kennedi Landry. Barring a setback with his back, it's possible that Carter could rejoin the big-league team this weekend or early next week. When he returns, the 22-year-old left-handed hitter should at least be on the strong side of a platoon in center field against right-handed pitchers, moving Wyatt Langford back to left field on a daily basis. Carter is a former second-round pick and has the ability to make noise in all fantasy categories, but he's had a tough time staying on the field for long periods of time due to injuries. He has played in a career-high 55 games in 2025 and is hitting .238 (40-for-168) with four home runs, 21 RBI, 12 steals and 27 runs scored in 189 trips to the plate.Source: MLB.com - Kennedi Landry
Texas Rangers outfielder Grayson Rodriguez has Successful Elbow Surgery
Grayson Rodriguez (elbow) had successful right-elbow debridement surgery to remove a bone spur on Monday with Dr. Keith Meister in Dallas, according to Danielle Allentuck of the Baltimore Banner. Rodriguez is done for the rest of the 2025 season, but the hope is that he'll be ready to go for spring training next year. The 25-year-old will end up not pitching at all for the Orioles this season, but he's hoping to resume throwing sooner than later in order to have a pretty normal offseason heading into 2026. Rodriguez also dealt with a serious lat/shoulder injury in 2024 and basically missed half the season. The former top prospect has a 25.7% strikeout rate in his two big-league seasons of 43 starts and has teased high-end starting pitcher talent, but fantasy managers will be very hesitant due to mounting injury concerns.Source: Baltimore Banner - Danielle Allentuck
Baltimore Orioles right-hander Cameron Heyward Willing to Miss Games for Contract Extension
Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cameron Heyward is in search of a new contract, and he suggested to the media on Monday that he's willing to sit out regular-season games if he doesn't get one. "There are definitely options out there thatMatt Wallner Expected to Return on Tuesday
Matt Wallner (personal) is expected to rejoin the team in the Bronx on Tuesday for their game against the New York Yankees after being away since Saturday for the birth of his child. Wallner should be a lineup regular for the Twins after they traded away plenty of players at the July 31 deadline. The 27-year-old is hitting a career-low .218 (51-for-234) with 77 strikeouts and 34 walks, but he's also recorded a career-high 16 home runs, 27 RBI and 34 runs scored in 74 games. Wallner's .233 expected batting average means he could still have a little run in him this year, but he's also in just the eighth percentile in strikeout rate. Fantasy managers are simply chasing the former first-rounder's power from the left side in the middle of Minnesota's lineup.Source: The Athletic - Dan Hayes
Minnesota Twins outfielder Carlos Narvaez Starting on Monday Against Astros
Carlos Narvaez (knee) is behind the plate and is batting ninth in Monday's series opener against the hosting Houston Astros and right-hander Cristian Javier at Daikin Park. Narvaez will return to action for the first time since last Tuesday due to a sore left knee. As long as the 26-year-old's knee issues don't crop up again, he's expected to be the primary backstop for the Red Sox the rest of the way. The Venezuelan is in his first year in Beantown and only his second in the big leagues and is hitting .248/.319/.409 with a .729 OPS, nine home runs, 33 RBI and 41 runs scored in 86 games played. Narvaez only played six games with the New York Yankees in 2024, so this is essentially his rookie season. Since the All-Star break, Narvaez has gone 5-for-45 (.111) with a homer, two RBI and 14 strikeouts in 13 games played.Source: MLB.com
Boston Red Sox catcher Marcelo Mayer Begins Baseball Activities on Monday
Marcelo Mayer (wrist) started baseball activities on Monday and is playing catch, according to Christopher Smith of MassLive. Mayer has been slow to recover from a right-wrist sprain that has kept him out since July 24, but the 22-year-old appears to be turning a corner. Still, it could be another week or two before he can rejoin the major-league roster, as the Red Sox will likely send him on a short minor-league rehab assignment first. The former fourth overall pick in 2021 made his big-league debut in 2025 and has hit .228/.272/.402 with four home runs, 10 RBI and 20 runs scored in 44 games. Mayer was previously one of Boston's top prospects and is an intresting stash in dynasty/keeper fantasy leagues, but there's no guarantee he'll see regular playing time in the final month of the season when he returns.Source: MassLive.com - Christopher Smith
Boston Red Sox rookie infielder Brady Basso Reinstated From Injured List and Optioned
Brady Basso (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list on Monday and then optioned him to Triple-A Las Vegas, according to the team. The A's also transferred catcher Austin Wynns (abdomen) to the 60-day IL, which means he won't return this season. The 27-year-old southpaw has yet to pitch in the big leagues this season after he was placed on the IL before the start of the year with a left-shoulder strain. Basso had a setback along the way and will now go back to the minors to give himself a chance to pitch for the A's down the stretch. The former 16th-round pick in 2019 out of Oklahoma State made his major-league debut in 2024 and went 1-1 with a 4.03 ERA (3.88 FIP) and 1.25 WHIP with a 19:5 K:BB in seven outings (four starts). Basso is a command artist with limited long-term fantasy value.Source: A's Communications
