Michael Penix Jr. Will Not Play in Second Preseason Game
Michael Penix Jr. will not play in the team's second preseason game on Friday, per ESPN's Marc Raimondi. Backup quarterback Kirk Cousins is also unlikely to play, although it has not been completely ruled out by the team. Neither Penix Jr. nor Cousins played in Atlanta's first preseason game against the Detroit Lions last Friday, leaving Easton Stick and Emory Jones to handle signal-calling duties. Penix Jr. has a long injury history dating back to his time in college, so it makes sense why the team would want to be cautious with him in the preseason despite his limited NFL experience as a starter (three games).Source: ESPN - Marc Raimondi
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Brian Harman is a Longer Shot Heading to Maryland
Source: PGATour.com
Brian Harman stands inside the top 20 in terms of FedEx Cup points. The American golfer is in position to make it to East Lake next week. First, he must stay in the top 30 after the BMW Championship. Harman shot a 67 on Sunday to end up T22 in Memphis. That kept him on solid footing. Now, Harman showed he can make some birdies at Caves Valley in 2021. His 12-under was enough to keep him near the top 25 (T29). His longer odds to win at plus-7500 via DraftKings are of little concern here. Harman is probably not the most ideal DFS choice, either. His overall scoring average ranks 123rd at 70.46. For him, it is about surviving to the finale.Geraldo Perdomo Records 12th Home Run
Geraldo Perdomo went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in his team's 7-6 loss to the Texas Rangers on Monday. Perdomo entered the 2025 season with 14 total home runs in over 1,400 career big-league plate appearances, so the 12 he has hit this year represents a significant power surge. In 522 plate appearances in 2025, Perdomo is hitting .286/.385/.436 with 12 home runs, 78 RBI, 66 runs scored, and 17 stolen bases. He's recorded more walks (70) than strikeouts (56) while posting the best barrel and hard-hit rates of his career. Perdomo's xSLG (.416) is middling, so he could see some power regression the rest of the way or in years to come. Nevertheless, he's broken out as a very solid fantasy contributor in 2025.Source: MLB.com
Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Mike Boone Signs With Dolphins
Mike Boone and Aaron Shampklin have signed contracts with the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins wasted little time beefing up their running-back corps after they lost Alexander Mattison (neck) to a season-ending neck injury following their first preseason game on Sunday. Boone played in six games for the Carolina Panthers in 2024, handling 13 carries for 51 yards. Shampklin appeared in four games for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, carrying the ball six times for 17 yards. Both players will compete with Ollie Gordon II and Jaylen Wright for a reserve role behind locked-in starter De'Von Achane.Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter
Free-agent running backs Corey Conners Appears Safe This Week in Maryland
Source: PGATour.com
Corey Conners knows anything can happen with the playoffs. The Canadian golfer is currently 16th in the points standings heading into the BMW Championship. Also, Conners has a solid history at the event finishing inside the Top 25 four consecutive times. That includes the last time the event was held at Caves Valley Golf Club (2021). Then, Conners ended up T-22. Last week was not his best effort as he struggled to stay around Even par (T-50). The Maryland golf course has new drainage and definitely is meant to play fast and firm. Conners should get a boost from this and make enough birdies to maybe not be a prevailing DFS or betting option. However, a playoff spot is there for the taking. Terry McLaurin Seen Talking to Commanders GM on Sidelines on Tuesday
Terry McLaurin was seen talking to team GM Adam Peters on the sidelines during Tuesday's practice. McLaurin has been holding-in over the past few weeks as he is seeking a long-term extension from the Commanders. The Commanders have thus far been reluctant to budge on their price while McLaurin is rumored to be seeking a contract similar to what DK Metcalf got from the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier in the offseason. While there is no way to tell what exactly was said between McLaurin and Peters on Tuesday, it at least provides a glimmer of hope that the two are talking. The Commanders would have a hard time replacing their No. 1 receiver's production on the field if he's not in the fold by the time Week 1 rolls around. If McLaurin ultimately rejoins the team, he can be treated as a rock-solid WR2 in fantasy drafts later this summer.Source: JP Finlay on Twitter
Washington Commanders wide receiver Daniel Berger Must Play Better at BMW Championship
Source: PGATour.com
Daniel Berger knows the time is now. The American golfer comes in ranked 33rd for the BMW Championship. Only the Top 30 players advance to next week's Tour Championship. Caves Valley Golf Club has gone from a par of 72 to a par of 70 since it last hosted the event in 2021. The added 60 yards to the course may help Berger. Alas, it comes down to putting again. Fortunately, there is no cut but the final one at the end of the event. Berger started off well in Memphis with a 68 but followed up with a 75 on Friday and again on Sunday. He has not finished inside the Top 30 since the Truist Championship in May. Berger will need that and maybe more to even be a betting option in Maryland. Corbin Carroll Homers, Drives in Two
Corbin Carroll homered and recorded two RBI in his team's 7-6 loss to the Texas Rangers on Monday. The home run was Carroll's 26th of the season, which already represents a career-high. In addition to the 26 homers, Carroll is slashing .251/.325/.561 with 62 RBI, 78 runs scored, and 14 stolen bases in 459 plate appearances so far in 2025. The 24-year-old has altered his approach at the plate in search of more power. His strikeout rate has jumped from 19% in 2024 to 24.6% in 2025, but his barrel rate has more than doubled (7.2% to 15.7%), and his hard-hit rate is up nearly 10% (40.6% to 50.3%). Carroll has a legitimate shot at a 35 HR/25 SB season while being a standout contributor in both runs and RBI.Source: MLB.com
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Marquez Callaway Signs With Raiders
Marquez Callaway and waived wide receiver Kawaan Baker in a corresponding move on Monday. Callaway is beginning his second stint with the Raiders after spending some time on the team's practice squad back in 2023. The veteran wideout has 83 catches for 1,069 yards and seven touchdowns across 47 games in his career since entering the NFL in 2020. Callaway will battle for a reserve spot on the Raiders' initial 53-man roster as the regular season approaches.Source: Raiders PR on Twitter
The Las Vegas Raiders signed free-agent Wyatt Langford Homers, Drives in Three
Wyatt Langford hit a home run and recorded three RBI in his team's 7-6 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday. It's the 23-year-old's first home run since July 11, so both fantasy managers and the Rangers will hope this is the sign of a power surge to come. In 424 plate appearances so far this season, Langford is hitting .238/.321/.412 with 16 home runs, 48 RBI, 49 runs scored, and 15 stolen bases. His barrel rate has increased from 9.3% in 2024 to 13.4% in 2025, but his strikeout rate has also jumped from 20.6% to 27.1%. He remains a solid contributor in fantasy, but an underwhelming one given his draft-day cost and prospect pedigree.Source: MLB.com
Texas Rangers outfielder Alexander Mattison Moved to Injured Reserve
Alexander Mattison (neck) was officially placed on injured reserve on Monday. Mattison injured his neck during a preseason game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday and later went for surgery. It was announced on Monday that he would miss the remainder of the year, with the team placing him on IR just as a procedural move to clear roster space. Mattison's absence will open up reps for second-year running back Jaylen Wright and rookie Ollie Gordon II behind starter De'Von Achane. UPDATE: Head coach Mike McDaniel said that Mattison's injury is "not career-ending."Source: Miami Dolphins on Twitter
Miami Dolphins running back Zach Neto Homers Twice on Monday
Zach Neto powered his team to a 7-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night with a monster game. Neto was three-for-three with two home runs, two walks, and an additional run scored. In 435 plate appearances so far this season, the 24-year-old is slashing .272/.329/.481 with 19 home runs, 48 RBI, 72 runs scored, and 21 stolen bases. Neto's 13.2% barrel rate and 47.6% hard-hit rate are both career-bests by a significant margin. He profiles as a power/speed stud in fantasy who should be a staple at the top of the Angels order for years to come.Source: MLB.com
Los Angeles Angels shortstop John Means Throws Two Innings in Bridge Game
John Means (elbow) threw two innings in a bridge game at the team's Arizona complex, according to Tim Stebbins of MLB.com. Stebbins writes that the next step for Means in his recovery from Tommy John Surgery could be a rehab assignment with one of Cleveland's minor league affiliates. The 32-year-old lefty has thrown just 52 1/3 innings since the start of 2022 due to two separate Tommy John surgeries. In 401 career big-league innings (73 starts), Means is 23-26 with a 3.68 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 334 strikeouts. It appears there's a chance he could make his return very late in the 2025 season, but he's more likely to be fantasy-relevant in 2026.Source: MLB.com - Tim Stebbins
Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher James Cook Expected to Practice on Tuesday
James Cook is expected to practice on Tuesday, according to head coach Sean McDermott. Cook has been holding in at camp for over a week while calling his absence a "business decision." He dressed for Buffalo's first preseason game against the New York Giants on Saturday but refused to take the field. According to McDermott, the Bills and Cook have been having good conversations, which may have led to Cook's change of heart when it comes to practicing. Assuming Cook continues to participate throughout the remainder of training camp, Cook sets up as a solid RB2 in fantasy drafts later this summer.Source: Jay Skurski on Twitter
Buffalo Bills running back Tyler Anderson Scratched from Tuesday's Start
Tyler Anderson (back) has been scratched from his scheduled start on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Dodgers due to back stiffness, per Erica Weston of FanDuel Sports Network West. Right-hander Victor Mederos will be called up from Triple-A to take his place. It's unclear how long Anderson's injury will keep him sidelined. In 122 1/3 innings (23 starts) this season, the 35-year-old is 2-7 with a 4.63 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and 97 strikeouts. In 87 2/3 innings (16 starts) at Triple-A Salt Lake this season, Mederos is 7-5 with a 3.39 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and 71 strikeouts.Source: FanDuel Sports Network West - Erica Weston
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Kai Jones Works Out for Heat
Kai Jones had a workout for the Miami Heat on Monday, NBA insider Chris Haynes reports. Jones is an unrestricted free agent. He's had a turbulent journey in the NBA since entering the league in 2021 as a first-round pick. After skipping the entire 2023-24 campaign, Jones signed with the Los Angeles Clippers last season and also spent time with the Dallas Mavericks. Over 40 appearances, Jones averaged 5.0 points and 3.1 rebounds in 11.7 minutes. If he signs with the Heat, Jones would bolster the team's frontcourt depth but isn't expected to be a factor in fantasy basketball.Source: Chris Haynes
Forward/center Russell Westbrook Likely to Join Kings
Russell Westbrook is expected to end up with the Sacramento Kings for the start of the new season. ESPN's Tim MacMahon reports that league sources consider Sacramento the most likely destination for the former MVP. Westbrook became an unrestricted free agent this offseason after declining a $3.47 million player option to return to the Denver Nuggets. While Westbrook is way past his peak, he can still make plenty of noise in the right circumstances. Last season, the 36-year-old veteran averaged 15.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and 1.7 steals in 38 starts with the Nuggets. His fantasy production might be limited in Sacramento, as Westbrook is seen as Dennis Schroder's backup.Source: Tim MacMahon
Point guard Al Horford Expected to Sign with Warriors if He Doesn't Retire
Al Horford is still without a contract but is expected to sign with the Golden State Warriors for the upcoming campaign. Sources have told ESPN's Anthony Slater that retirement remains an option for the 39-year-old big man, but the Warriors see him as "a firm part of their plan" in 2025-26. Horford looks like a good fit for the Warriors and is likely to occupy the starting center's role. In Boston, Horford started only 75 of 125 games over the last two seasons. A regular starting role would boost his fantasy outlook, but since he doesn't play in back-to-backs, Horford can't be relied on as a nightly option.Source: Anthony Slater
Forward/center Jonathan Kuminga Reportedly Leaning Toward Accepting Golden State's Qualifying Offer
Jonathan Kuminga has a two-year contract offer on the table from the team, but he is reportedly leaning toward accepting a $7.9 million qualifying offer. Sources told ESPN's Anthony Slater that "Kuminga has indicated to those close to him" that he finds the qualifying offer more appealing than the team's contract offer. The Warriors have tried to secure his signature with a two-year, $45 million deal, which includes a team option for the second year and does not have an inherent no-trade clause. Meanwhile, Kuminga is seeking a three-year, $82 million pact. He has until Oct. 1 to accept the qualifying offer.Source: Anthony Slater
Golden State Warriors forward Cam Thomas "Increasingly Interested" in Signing Qualifying Offer
Cam Thomas is "increasingly interested" in signing a $6 million qualifying offer, NBA insider Jake Fischer reports. The talented scorer remains a restricted free agent and seems to have overvalued himself. A recent report from Lucas Kaplan of NetsDaily suggests that, in an ideal scenario, Thomas would want to attract offers close to $40 million a year. Brooklyn's maximum offer has reportedly been a two-year deal with a team option, worth $14.1 million annually. Thomas has been left in contract limbo despite leading the Nets in scoring last season with 24.0 points per game and posting career highs in rebounding (3.3) and assists (3.8).Source: Jake Fischer
Brooklyn Nets guard Javon Baker Carving Out Role on Special Teams
Javon Baker has been working with the special teams unit during practice and in the preseason opener against Washington. Additionally, the second-year wideout continuously makes highlight catches when given the opportunity on offense. It's a positive to see Baker taking on and succeeding in any possible role under the new coaching staff, as it could earn him an opportunity down the line in a thin receiver room. The 23-year-old saw little action as a rookie but brings good size at 6'2", 195 pounds, along with solid athleticism and a strong final season at UCF. He totaled over 1,100 receiving yards and averaged 21.9 yards per reception, the second most in the country. There is still upside in the tank with Baker, and he could be a name to keep in mind if he gets an opportunity.Source: Taylor Kyles
New England Patriots wide receiver Devin Taylor Off to Hot Start at Low-A Stockton
Source: Jesse Goldberg-Strassler
Athletics outfield prospect Devin Taylor has made an immediate impact in his first week with Single-A Stockton, slashing .333/.481/.667 with a double and two home runs over six games. The 21-year-old outfielder, selected in the second round of the 2025 draft out of Indiana, is already ranked as the club's eighth-best prospect. While Taylor is still early in his professional journey, his advanced approach and power potential make him an intriguing dynasty league target. If he continues producing at this pace, he could climb the organizational ladder quickly, potentially pushing for High-A by early 2026.Robert Hunt Suffers Ankle Injury in Practice
Chuba Hubbard and quarterback Bryce Young would likely feel the consequences.Source: The Athletic - Joseph Person
Carolina Panthers right guard Robert Hunt (ankle) twisted his right ankle during practice on Monday and was forced to sit out the final team drill of the day, according to Joseph Person of The Athletic. Hunt was spotted walking around after practice, so it does not appear as though this is a major injury. However, it's still a potential cause for concern given that Carolina is already missing starting left guard Damien Lewis (shoulder) and reserve guard Chandler Zavala (knee). Pro Football Focus rated Hunt as the 26th-best run-blocking guard in the NFL in 2024. If all three of Carolina's top guard options were to simultaneously miss time, both running back Joe Flacco Takes Every First-Team Rep in 11-on-11s on Monday
Joe Flacco took all of the first-team reps during the team's 11-on-11 session on Monday, according to Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN. After rookie Shedeur Sanders generated plenty of buzz in his solid preseason debut against the Panthers, it was still the veteran signal caller who dominated reps, which limited Sanders and Dillon Gabriel to alternating reps with the second and third teams. It is almost assuredly Flacco's job to lose at this stage in training camp, and that is a positive for Cleveland's pass catchers. There should be plenty of pass volume as the Browns are expected to trail in games a good amount of the time. Flacco doesn't scramble and does well enough in avoiding sacks to support a functional pass-catching group. However, it is also likely that we see one or both of the rookie signal callers at some point during the second half of the season.Source: Daniel Oyefusi
Cleveland Browns quarterback Carlos Estevez Notches 30th Save Of Season Monday
Carlos Estevez converted his 30th save of the season in Monday's 7-4 win over the Nationals. Estevez came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by three. He got the first two outs on a ground-out and a fly-out, allowed a walk, and ended the game with another ground-out. The 32-year-old has been a high-floor fantasy option once again this season, converting 30 of 36 save opportunities with a 2.81 ERA, a 1.15 WHIP, and a 7.36 K/9 rate in 51 1/3 innings of work. His strikeout numbers may not be as strong as other closers, but he is currently second in baseball in saves.Source: MLB.com
Kansas City Royals closer Everson Pereira Tallies Two Hits in Rays Debut
Everson Pereira from Triple-A Durham on Monday, and he wasted no time making an impact with a double, a single, and a run scored against the Athletics. Acquired from the Yankees at the trade deadline, the 24-year-old needed just eight games at Durham to earn his call-up. Pereira's mix of raw power and athleticism makes him an intriguing dynasty stash, though his strikeout issues could limit short-term fantasy value. If he earns regular playing time in Tampa Bay's outfield, he could quickly emerge as a deeper-league asset down the stretch.Source: Rays Communications
The Tampa Bay Rays recalled outfielder Will Vest Earns 17th Save Of Season Monday
Will Vest picked up his 17th save of the season in Monday's 2-1 win over the White Sox. Vest entered the game in the bottom of the ninth inning up by one and turned in a 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout. The 30-year-old is having a solid season, converting 17 of 22 save opportunities with five wins, a 2.66 ERA, a 1.07 WHIP, and a 10.13 K/9 rate in 50 2/3 innings of work. The Tigers did trade for former Nationals closer Kyle Finnegan at the trade deadline, who pitched the eighth inning in Monday's game and earned the win. Finnegan has seen the team's most save opportunities in the last 15 days, but Vest should remain a useful fantasy option in deeper roto leagues.Source: MLB.com
Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Ja'Lynn Polk in Danger of Being Released?
Ja'Lynn Polk (shoulder) was on the outside looking in of beat reporter Chad Graff of The Athletic's latest 53-man roster projection. Graff notes that the shoulder injury Polk suffered in the team's first preseason game on Friday "further hurts his chances at making the team." Polk had a horrible rookie season in 2024, recording 12 catches for 87 yards and two touchdowns in 15 games (seven starts). Even still, it would be a rapid fall from grace to see him get cut before his second season, given that he was the 37th overall pick of the 2024 draft. Graff has 2024 fourth-rounder Javon Baker making the team as the WR6 ahead of Polk.Source: The Athletic - Chad Graff
New England Patriots wide receiver Robert Suarez Locks Up 33rd Save Monday
Robert Suarez picked up his 33rd save of the season in Monday's 4-1 win over the Giants. Suarez entered the game to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning up by three and delivered a 1-2-3 effort with no strikeouts. The 34-year-old leads baseball in saves and has a 3.22 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP, and a 9.12 K/9 rate in 50 1/3 innings of work. Despite his excellent numbers, things were shaken up at the trade deadline when the Padres acquired another strong closer in Mason Miller. The two have each seen two save opportunities in the last 15 days, and Miller pitched a scoreless eighth inning Monday, striking out the side. While it is unusual, it seems as though the Padres may be able to produce enough fantasy value for both pitchers while sharing save opportunities.Source: MLB.com
San Diego Padres relief pitcher Royals Recall Luinder Avila From Triple-A
Luinder Avila from Triple-A Omaha on Monday, placing Hunter Harvey (thigh) on the IL. The 23-year-old brings an upper-90s fastball, a sharp curveball, and a serviceable changeup. While he's worked as a starter in the minors, Avila is expected to slot into the bullpen for now. He posted a 27.0% strikeout rate at Omaha, and his solid command should help him adjust to major league hitters. Fantasy managers can monitor Avila for potential value, but without a clear path to high-leverage innings, he's not yet a priority add outside of deep AL-only formats.Source: Kansas City Royals
The Kansas City Royals recalled right-hander
