The Kansas City Royals announced on Monday that they placed right-handed reliever Hunter Harvey (groin) on the 15-day injured list with a right-adductor strain and recalled right-handed pitching prospect Luinder Avila from Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move. It will be the second time that Harvey has been on the IL this year after missing time earlier this season with a shoulder injury. The 30-year-old has been limited to 10 2/3 innings out of the Royals bullpen this year, although he has yet to allow a run while walking only one and striking out 11. Harvey will be eligible to return from the 15-day IL on Aug. 26, but it's unclear at this time if he'll be ready by then. A back injury ended his 2024 season early, too, so Harvey hasn't exactly had the greatest of injury luck in the last year. UPDATE: Harvey has a Grade 2 groin strain and received an injection on Tuesday. Manager Matt Quatraro said it will be a "significant" amount of time that Harvey is sidelined, but the team also hopes to get him back this year.--Keith Hernandez
