Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver
Jermaine Burton (undisclosed) is back in uniform and at training camp practice on Friday, according to Charlie Clifford of NBC 5 Cincinnati. Burton apparently suffered an undisclosed injury in the preseason opener last week against the Philadelphia Eagles after he caught one pass and had a couple punt and kickoff returns on special teams. It remains to be seen if the 24-year-old will suit up for the second preseason contest on Monday night against the Washington Commanders. For fantasy purposes, the third-round pick last year is off the radar in most leagues. In his rookie campaign last year, Burton caught four of 14 targets for 107 yards and no touchdowns in 14 games (one start). Right now, he's the team's WR4, at best, behind

The Milwaukee Brewers have placed outfielder
Blake Perkins (personal) on the bereavement list. Perkins will likely miss the Brewers' weekend series against the NL Central-rival Cincinnati Reds as a result. The 28-year-old sat out the first three-plus months of the season with shin and groin injuries, but he has drawn a good amount of playing time since debuting on July 18. With
Jackson Chourio on the 10-day injured list since July 30 with a hamstring strain, Perkins has been the Brewers' everyday center fielder of late. Perkins is known more for his defense, but he has hit a terrific .264/.338/.472 with three homers, nine RBI, 19 runs scored, and five stolen bases over 80 plate appearances this year. His absence should open up playing time for
Brandon Lockridge, who came over from the San Diego Padres at the July 31 trade deadline.

Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen said, "I don't have an exact timetable on it, but sooner rather than later would be nice," when discussing when the team will decide the winner of the quarterback competition between
Anthony Richardson Sr. and
Daniel Jones. By the end of this weekend, both QBs should have roughly even reps throughout 13 training camp practices, a joint practice and two preseason games. Colts.com's JJ Stakevitz writes that as of Thursday night, the competition is "too close to call," and Steichen said he doesn't have a clear leader in his mind right now. Richardson has "looked more comfortable connecting on short and intermediate throws from the pocket" and has much more fantasy upside because of his rushing ability alone. At best, Richardson will be a QB2 in fantasy with upside if he wins the job.

Isaiah Bond is likely to sign soon with the Cleveland Browns, according to The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot, but he also faces possible discipline under the NFL's personal-conduct policy. The league is reviewing Bond's sexual-assault case, which was no-billed on Thursday, according to spokesman Brian McCarthy. Bond said on Thursday that he was planning on signing with the Browns, but the team hasn't officially brought him on board yet and are doing their due diligence given his off-the-field issues. The Browns have opportunity in their receiving corps behind
Jerry Jeudy and

Pierson Ohl will start Friday against the Detroit Tigers. It'll be the third start in five appearances for Ohl, who hasn't thrown more than three frames in any of his outings. The 25-year-old rookie has gone 0-2 with a 7.15 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, and 9:3 K:BB over 11 1/3 innings. Ohl will face a Detroit offense that ranks eighth in the majors in runs. Considering he has amassed between 36 and 72 pitches in his appearances with the Twins, Ohl seems likely to hand off to the bullpen early in the game.

Keenan Allen and quarterback
Justin Herbert have "picked up right where they left off in 2023," according to Daniel Popper of The Athletic. Allen spent the 2024 season with the Chicago Bears, but he racked up 150 targets, 108 receptions, 1,243 yards, and seven touchdowns in just 13 games during the 2023 season with the Chargers. The 33-year-old is at a different point in his career, and Los Angeles now runs a much less pass-happy offense under play-caller Greg Roman. Allen should not be expected to produce like he did two seasons ago, but he could still be a high-floor bye-week replacement in fantasy, particularly in PPR-scoring formats.

Najee Harris (eye) to open the season on the non-football injury list, which means he would be forced to miss the first four games of the season. Jakobi Meyers has "quickly cultivated strong chemistry" with quarterback
Geno Smith and is "clearly (Smith's) No. 1 receiver," according to Tashan Reed of The Athletic. Reed writes that Meyers was a standout in the team's joint practice with the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday. Meyers has quietly been a highly productive possession receiver in recent years, averaging 77 catches for 876 yards and five touchdowns over the last four seasons. The 28-year-old is expected to be the number two target in Las Vegas behind star tight end
Brock Bowers. Meyers profiles as a steady WR3 in fantasy with limited upside but a projectable floor as long as he stays healthy.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt (shoulder) is all but assured of a roster spot, and it "wouldn't be a surprise to see him play a significant role in the offense," according to Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic. The rookie seventh-rounder suffered a shoulder injury in Washington's first preseason game, but it isn't considered serious. Croskey-Merritt's training camp performance has earned a steady drumbeat of praise from both team personnel and Commanders' beat writers. He will almost certainly open the season behind both
Brian Robinson Jr. and
Austin Ekeler on the backfield depth chart, but it appears that Washington is open to him working his way into more playing time. Croskey-Merritt is a name for fantasy managers to monitor on the waiver wire or even as a late-round dart throw in deep leagues.

Luke McCaffrey has "received ample time with the ones and struggled" in training camp practices, according to Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic. Jhabvala includes McCaffrey in his 53-man roster projection for Washington, but writes that he's doing so "largely because he was a third-round pick last year." The 24-year-old McCaffrey saw very little usage on offense as a rookie in 2024, recording 18 catches for 168 yards and zero touchdowns in 17 games. With

That being said, it's unlikely that Blue is going to be ready to play against the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday. Before going down, Blue looked impressive in camp, so hopefully he'll be able to get back on the field soon. It seems unlikely that he'll surpass

Kaleb Johnson is unlikely to have a big role on offense early in the season. Johnson still needs to work on his pass protection and pass-catching ability before taking on a bigger role. It's still fairly early in training camp, so things could change from now to Week 1. The expectation is that
Jaylen Warren will be the lead back to start the season. After that, Johnson and
Kenneth Gainwell figure to get mixed in as change-of-pace backs. If Johnson improves quickly, he could see his role on the team grow rapidly. The Steelers are high on Johnson after taking him in the third-round, but it seems like the rookie back still has things to work on before he's ready to take on a larger workload.

Cleveland Guardians third baseman
Jose Ramirez was all over the place during Thursday's game against the Miami Marlins. Ramirez went 3-for-4 at the plate with singles and three runs scored in the win. He also added one RBI and two stolen bases, which gives him 35 steals on the season. Ramirez now has 25 home runs and 35 steals, so the 30-30 club seems very possible for the switch-hitter. The veteran slugger has been one of the most consistent fantasy options all season long.

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher
Tarik Skubal didn't factor in the decision during Thursday's start against the Minnesota Twins. Skubal didn't have his normal swing-and-miss stuff during this game. The southpaw only struck out three batters which is his second-fewest in a game this season. He tossed seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits in the no-decision. It hasn't been a great stretch for Skubal who has allowed three runs or more in each of his last three outings. He'll take a 2.42 ERA, 0.87 WHIP, and a 190/23 K/BB ratio across 24 starts into his next outing against the Houston Astros.

Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher
Eduardo Rodriguez bounced back nicely on the mound during Thursday's start against the Colorado Rockies. Last week, Rodriguez was smacked around for five runs against this same Rockies club. The southpaw looked much better this week as the only damage against him was on a solo home run by
Kyle Farmer. Rodriguez went seven innings, allowing one earned run on six hits while striking out six batters in the win. The left-hander doesn't have great overall numbers with a 5.40 ERA, 1.64 WHIP, and a 111/43 K/BB ratio across 21 starts this season. He'll have some deep league appeal against the Cleveland Guardians during his next start.

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher
Kyle Bradish (elbow) looked sharp on the mound during his rehab start with Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday. Bradish tossed five scoreless innings, allowing two hits, while striking out nine batters. This outing marked his fifth overall rehab start and his third with Norfolk. He worked his way up to 74 pitches during this start. That being said, Bradish will likely do one more start with Norfolk before likely rejoining the O's rotation. Fantasy managers looking for a stash option to help their pitching might want to add Bradish.

Columbus Blue Jackets forward Mikael Pyyhtia will be back with the organization in 2025-26 after agreeing to a one-year, two-way contract. Per Aaron Portzline of The Athletic, Pyyhtia's contract comes with an NHL cap hit of $775,000 and a minor-league salary of $100,000. The Finnish native was drafted in the fourth round by the Blue Jackets in 2020 and has made 66 regular-season appearances, including 47 last season. He scored his first four NHL goals and finished the campaign with seven points. Overall, Pyyhtia has scored 10 points in the league, so he's made only a minimal impact with the Blue Jackets and doesn't have any fantasy appeal.

Utah Mammoth forward prospect Caleb Desnoyers (wrist) will be out for approximately 12 weeks after undergoing wrist surgery, general manager Doug Armstrong announced Thursday. Desnoyers was the fourth pick of this year's draft, instantly becoming one of Utah's top prospects. However, it's unclear whether he will make his NHL debut in 2025-26. The 18-year-old may return to the QMJHL or link up with an NCAA team, since he hasn't signed a contract with Utah. Regardless, the wrist surgery will keep him sidelined for the start of the season. Desnoyers battled wrist issues throughout last season but still produced an impressive 84 points (35 goals, 49 assists) in 56 regular-season games with the Moncton Wildcats in the QMJHL.

Philadelphia Flyers winger Tyson Foerster (elbow) appears to be on track to be healthy for the start of the 2025-26 NHL campaign. Flyers general manager Danny Briere told Bill Meltzer of Hockey Hot Stove via text that "everything looks good right now" for Foerster, and he "should be ready for the season." The 23-year-old underwent elbow surgery during the offseason to treat an infection caused by an injury he sustained while playing for Team Canada at the World Championship. Foerster has produced back-to-back 20-goal campaigns in his first two years in the NHL and was tied for fourth in scoring on his team last season with 43 points (25 goals, 18 assists) in 81 games.

Goaltender Olivier Rodrigue will join HC Barys in the KHL for the upcoming season. The 25-year-old moves overseas after making his NHL debut in 2024-25. Across two appearances, Rodrigue posted a 0-1-0 record with a 3.10 goals-against average and a .862 save percentage. After the season, he didn't receive a qualifying offer from the Oilers, making Rodrigue an unrestricted free agent. Despite parting ways with Rodrigue, Edmonton still has six goaltenders under contract for 2025-26, with Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard serving as the team's duo in the NHL.

Right wing Emil Bemstrom is set to spend the 2025-26 campaign in Europe. According to Henrik Sjoberg of HockeyNews.se, Bemstrom will join SC Bern in Switzerland. The Swedish forward is on the move after making only 14 appearances with the Pittsburgh Penguins last term. He has also skated with the Columbus Blue Jackets in the NHL, producing 34 goals and 75 points in 242 career games. Things truly never clicked for Bemstrom on the big stage, despite him being a point-per-game player in the AHL. Toronto Blue Jays top pitching prospect
Trey Yesavage struggled with his command during his Triple-A debut on Thursday evening. Facing Lehigh Valley, the former 20th overall pick in last year's MLB Draft tossed just 1 2/3 innings. He allowed two runs and one hit. He served up four free passes but was able to strike out three. Fantasy managers should continue to closely monitor Yesavage's progression at Triple-A as he could be in the mix to join the majors during the stretch run. Earlier this season, Yesavage made his professional debut with Low-A and progressed through the entire season. In 80 2/3 innings at Low-A, High-A, and Double-A, Yesavage held a 3.01 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP. If he can turn the corner in his next start, he could enter stash territory.

Seattle Mariners outfield prospect
Lazaro Montes was able to break out of his power slump on Thursday evening during their contest against Double-A Northwest Arkansas. In this contest, Montes went 2-for-4 at the plate with a round-tripper, two RBI, and a walk. Over his last nine games, Montes carried a low .176/.263/.206 line with one double and a 13:4 K:BB. Since moving up to Double-A earlier this season, the No. 2-ranked prospect in the system on MLB.com has had mixed results, carrying a .223/.323/.453 line with four doubles, two triples, eight home runs, and two stolen bases. However, earlier in the season with High-A, Montes held a .268/.387/.572 line with an elite .959 OPS. Given his high power upside, Montes is worth closely monitoring as he could push his MLB debut late next season.

Kevin Alcantara stayed hot at the plate on Thursday as he went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run in their contest against Worcester. Over his last six games, the No. 75-ranked prospect in baseball on MLB.com has posted an elite .261/.393/.739 slash line with two doubles and three home runs. After earning a brief three-game taste of the majors in 2024, Alcantara has spent the entire 2025 campaign with the Iowa Cubs. Given Chicago's crowded outfield, fantasy managers should not expect Alcantara to be in the mix to spend his second stint in the majors this season. Through 89 games at Iowa this season, Alcantara has held his own, posting a .258/.344/.472 slash line with 22 doubles, 16 home runs, and nine stolen bases.

Jhostynxon Garcia was able to snap his brief skid at Triple-A with a big showing on Thursday. Facing the Iowa Cubs, Garcia went 3-for-5 with a home run. Leading up to this game, Garcia went 0-for-11 over his last three contests at Worcester. However, before this slight bump, Garcia was flashing immense upside at the top level of the minor leagues, posting a .381/.409/.881 slash line with four doubles, one triple, five home runs, and a 10:1 K:BB. Since joining Triple-A, the 22-year-old outfielder has looked rather impressive, holding a stellar .300/.366/.575 slash line with 17 long balls across a 62-game stint. Given his elite production at the top level of the Boston system, Garcia could be in the mix for a late-season MLB debut.

Boston Red Sox two-way prospect Conrad Cason (elbow) announced on his social media that he underwent Tommy John surgery on Thursday. The 19-year-old has pitched in just one game this season in the Florida Complex League and appeared as a batter in two. As a hitter, Cason went 1-for-4 with a single, tallied two RBI, and struck out one. On the bump, Cason logged two no-hit innings with a 5:1 K:BB. However, the 19-year-old has been shut down since May due to arm fatigue and will now face a much longer recovery process. Cason joined Boston in the eighth round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of Greater Atlanta Christian HS. Dynasty managers should expect Cason to remain sidelined throughout the vast majority of the 2026 regular season.

Mike Evans impressed during Thursday's joint practice with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Evans won a red-zone battle against cornerback Jalen Ramsey for a two-point conversion, then capped the day by hauling in a touchdown from
Baker Mayfield during a two-minute drill. After posting a "down year" in 2024 with 1,004 yards and 11 touchdowns, Evans looks determined to return to elite form in 2025. The veteran remains one of the NFL's most reliable end-zone threats, and fantasy managers should consider him a steady WR2 with WR1 upside heading into draft season.
