Dietrich Enns locked down his first save of the season in Thursday's 5-3 victory against the Mariners. He entered with a three-run lead and gave up two hits and a walk that cut the lead to two, but he ultimately shut the door after 23 pitches. He has done well since being dealt to Baltimore at the trade deadline, striking out 12 in his first 6 ⅓ innings with the team. Don't expect the 34-year-old to take over as the sole closer for the squad, but their bullpen situation is messy enough for him to continue to be in the mix.
Keegan Akin was the favorite to take over the ninth-inning duties, but he has struggled with two consecutive blown saves.

Tampa Bay Rays first baseman
Bobby Seymour is expected to be called up to the major league roster to join the team on Friday, reports Marc Topkin of The Tampa Bay Times. He's had a great year in Triple-A, slashing .263/.327/.553 with 30 home runs, 87 RBI, and 70 runs in 105 games. While he wasn't an elite prospect from the start, being drafted back in the 13th round of the 2021 draft, he has consistently slugged his way through every level of the minors. The 26-year-old could see decent playing time with
Jonathan Aranda (wrist) on the injured list, and is worth monitoring in deeper leagues if you need a power boost.

Jordan Lawlar (hamstring) was activated from the 7-day injured list in Triple-A on Thursday, reports Jose M. Romero of The Arizona Republic. He has been out of game action since June with a hamstring strain, but he is finally healthy. A lot has happened for the major league club while the 23-year-old has been sidelined, as the departure of
Josh Naylor and
Eugenio Suarez at the trade deadline created plenty of open playing time opportunities. The rookie played only 14 games in 2023 and eight games in 2025, so it's likely that Arizona will jump at the chance to finally lock him in for consistent at-bats to close out the season. He'll need some time to get back up to speed in the minors, but expect a promotion at some point in the coming weeks.

Olamide Zaccheaus "might lead the team in training camp receptions," according to Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic. Wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator Antwaan Randle El described Zaccheaus as "the F-receiver in this offense." Zaccheaus played in 17 games last season for the Washington Commanders, recording 45 receptions for 506 yards and three touchdowns. He's part of a crowded wide receiver room in Chicago that also includes
DJ Moore,
Rome Odunze, and rookie
Luther Burden III. However, it sounds as though the Bears plan to utilize Zaccheaus in a fairly consistent role. Jeff Hoffman threw a scoreless ninth inning on Thursday to lock up a 2-1 win over the Chicago Cubs and record his 27th save of the season. Hoffman allowed a one-out single to
Nico Hoerner, but he struck out the other three hitters he faced (
Owen Caissie,
Willi Castro, and
Dansby Swanson) in a 12-pitch frame. The right-hander threw 10 strikes and has now gone back-to-back appearances without walking a hitter. That's reassuring for the Blue Jays and fantasy managers after Hoffman issued a stunning five free passes over two-thirds of an inning in a 5-4 defeat of the Los Angeles Dodgers last Sunday. Aside from that outing, Hoffman has demonstrated good control all season. The 32-year-old now has a 4.32 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP, 69 strikeouts, and 16 walks over 50 innings.

Daniel Jones was picked off twice in 16 pass attempts by the Green Bay Packers' defense during the joint practice between the two teams on Thursday, per James Boyd of The Athletic. Boyd writes that the "Colts' offense was overwhelmed by the Packers' defense" and "the dink-and-dunk offense (Jones) was commanding was far from fruitful." Jones is competing with
Anthony Richardson Sr. for the QB1 role in Indianapolis, but both quarterbacks are reportedly struggling in training camp. Denzel Clarke (hip) is expected to start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday. The 25-year-old rookie has been on the 10-day injured list with a right adductor strain since July 21. While Clarke is known for his defensive wizardry, he was on a hot streak at the plate before he landed on the shelf. Over 14 games in July, Clarke slashed .298/.340/.574 with nine extra-base hits (six doubles, two triples, and a homer), two RBI, and eight runs scored. Clarke has appeared in 47 games overall and struggled to a .230/.274/.372 line with three homers, eight RBI, 18 runs, six stolen bases, and a 38.4% strikeout rate in 159 plate appearances.

J.J. McCarthy had his "best practice of camp" on Thursday and impressed with both his consistency and accuracy, according to Alec Lewis of The Athletic. Lewis notes that McCarthy had a stretch of practice where he completed 13 straight passes and threw for six touchdowns. The 22-year-old former first-round pick is preparing for his first year as an NFL starter after missing his entire rookie season with a torn meniscus in his knee. McCarthy will likely experience some growing pains, but he has a lot of playmaking talent around him in Minnesota and an excellent play-calling head coach in Kevin O'Connell. He profiles as a mid-tier QB2 in fantasy, but he's got more upside than some of the other quarterbacks being drafted in his range.

Atlanta Braves outfielder
Ronald Acuna Jr. (calf) will come off the 10-day injured list and play Friday if "he wakes up feeling good," according to MLB.com. Acuna has already traveled with the Braves to Cleveland to prepare for his return against the Guardians. The 27-year-old superstar went on the IL with a calf strain on July 30, but fortunately, he incurred a low-grade injury and is set to rejoin Atlanta's lineup after two weeks on the shelf. Since making his season debut on May 23, Acuna has slashed .306/.429/.577 with 14 homers, 26 RBI, 48 runs scored, and four stolen bases in 238 plate appearances. Fantasy managers will be thrilled to welcome him back for the stretch run.

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander
Roki Sasaki (shoulder) had a rough time in his first Triple-A rehab start on Thursday. The Dodgers were hoping Sasaki would go three innings, but he lasted just two frames and allowed three earned runs on six hits (all singles) with a walk and no strikeouts. Sasaki threw 25 of 41 pitches for strikes and sat 93-94 mph on his fastball after touching 97 during a recent sim game, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register. The rookie from Japan went on the IL with a shoulder impingement on May 13 after posting a 4.72 ERA with a 1.49 WHIP and 24:22 K:BB in his first eight starts and 34 1/3 innings in the majors. The Dodgers are hopeful that Sasaki will return in late August or early September, but in the meantime, he'll aim for better results as he continues rehabbing in the minors.

Cooper Kupp has "plenty left in the tank" and has shown the ability to "get open against (star cornerback) Devon Witherspoon" in training camp practices, according to Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic. Kupp is entering his first year in Seattle after spending the first eight seasons of his career with the Los Angeles Rams. Injured Colorado Rockies designated hitter
Kris Bryant (back) will not return this season, according to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post. Bryant appeared in 11 games this year, none since April 12, and hit a ghastly .154/.195/.205 in 41 plate appearances before going on the injured list with lumbar degenerative disk disease in his back. Bryant has tried rehabbing the injury, but to no avail, and he has sought experimental treatments to avoid undergoing fusion surgery. If Bryant opts for the surgery, it could prevent him from playing again. Once among the game's premier players and a former MVP, Bryant's career has gone off the rails since he signed a seven-year, $182 million contract with the Rockies in 2022. Injuries have limited the 33-year-old to just 170 games since then, and he has only managed a .244/.324/.370 line with 17 home runs and 61 RBI in 712 plate appearances.

It'll be Lopez's sixth time throwing off a mound since he went on the injured list in early June with a right teres major strain. The injury interrupted an impressive start to 2025 for Lopez, who has gone 5-3 with a 2.82 ERA, a 1.07 WHIP, and 61:14 K:BB across 60 2/3 innings. Lopez was expected to miss eight to 12 weeks when he went down, so he should return soon if he avoids setbacks.

The Washington Commanders have signed wide receiver
River Cracraft, according to Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic. Cracraft has played for three different teams across seven NFL seasons entering 2025, but has never recorded more than nine catches in a single year. He played eight games for the Miami Dolphins in 2024 and caught seven passes for 66 yards and zero touchdowns. The 30-year-old Cracraft is a long shot to make the Commanders' 53-man roster. Per the team, the Atlanta Falcons intend to sign free agent defensive back C.J. Henderson to an undisclosed contract. The 26-year-old was the former No. 9 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, but spent only that season with the Jacksonville Jaguars -- the team that drafted him. After a brief stint with the Jags, he was traded to Carolina, where he spent three seasons, and finally landed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024, though he did not appear in a game. Injuries have limited Henderson to 49 of a possible 67 career games (21 starts), but he's been productive when on the field. The Falcons' defensive backfield is essentially set in stone -- retaining their starters from a season ago -- but the Florida product could play valuable snaps as a rotational asset. Defensive lineman Tyrone Wheatley Jr. was waived in a corresponding move.

A.J. Brown's (hamstring) injury. Brown has been in and out of practice over the last few weeks while dealing with a nagging hamstring issue. There was some worry that he'd suffered a setback when he was downgraded from a limited session earlier in the week, although it doesn't appear to be a serious ailment. With that said -- and the regular season looming -- it's worth keeping an eye on. Hamstring injuries can be tricky, and any time missed by the Ole Miss product would be a boon to teammate

According to Iowa's website after veteran offensive guard Brandon Scherff was selected to the Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame, the 33-year-old has retired from professional football. Scherff became a free agent back in March, never talked to any NFL teams, and has apparently called it a career. He was originally the fifth overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft by Washington, and Scherff spent the first seven seasons of his career in D.C. Scherff was a five-time Pro Bowler with the Commaners and was also a first-team All-Pro selection in 2020. The final three seasons of his career came with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Scherff started all 17 games for the Jaguars in 2024 in what ended up being his final season.

San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa (neck) is dealing with neck soreness, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. The head coach said that the hope is that Bosa will be back at practice next week. Bosa did not practice at training camp on Thursday and will not take the field for the team's second preseason contest on Saturday versus the Las Vegas Raiders. Injuries are nothing new for the 27-year-old five-time Pro Bowler, as he missed three games a year ago with knee and oblique injuries. But as long as he's able to get back to practice at some point next week, he should be good to go for the Week 1 regular-season opener in early September. The 2024 season was the first since 2020 that Bosa didn't have double-digit sacks, although he was only one away with nine. The former Defensive Player of the Year is a risk/reward IDP fantasy selection at defensive line.

Updating a previous report, the Cleveland Browns are doing their due diligence on former Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond, who went undrafted this year because of a sexual-assault charge that was no-billed on Thursday, according to Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer. Bond said that he has signed with the Browns, but that's not official and will not happen on Thursday, according to a source. The 21-year-old wideout won't face criminal charges after being arrested in April, but it doesn't necessarily mean the NFL won't hand him a suspension. He caught 34 passes for 540 yards and five touchdowns in 14 games with the Longhorns last year. If Bond does eventually ink a deal with the Browns, he'll simply be competing for a depth role to close out training camp behind
