Padres Acquire Sean Manaea From A's
Sean Manaea and relief pitcher Aaron Holiday from the Oakland Athletics on Sunday in exchange for minor league infielder Euribiel Angeles and right-hander Adrian Martinez, according to a source. Manaea had been involved in offseason trade rumors all spring, and he'll finally be dealt just before Opening Day to a Padres rotation that is already pretty stacked with Yu Darvish, Joe Musgrove, Blake Snell and Mike Clevinger. The 30-year-old left-hander will become slightly more attractive while joining a better club after he posted a 3.91 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and a 194:41 K:BB over 179 1/3 innings in 2021. Chris Paddack, who has been involved in trade talks with the New York Mets, could be on his way out of San Diego.
