Nolan Arenado Doesn't Plan On Opting Out
4 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado, who was acquired in a five-player trade with the Rockies this week, said he plans "on sticking around." "That's my goal. I plan on staying here for a long time. I said that once in Colorado, but I truly mean it. I'm not worried about [opting out]," Arenado said. The five-time All-Star had a .738 OPS in 48 games in 2020 as he battled through a shoulder injury that caused him to be shut down early. His new ballpark in St. Louis is a clear downgrade over Coors Field, but Arenado averaged 37 home runs, 97 runs scored and 110 RBI in five seasons prior to 2020, so fantasy managers could easily be getting a top-20 player in 2021. At a reduced cost with his injury last year and the move to St. Louis -- current average draft position of 31 -- the 29-year-old star should be able to return a nice profit.
