Max Muncy Remains Out Against Padres
Max Muncy (side) remains absent from the team's starting lineup for the start of a critical divisional series in L.A. against the visiting San Diego Padres on Friday. Muncy was scratched from the starting lineup in Wednesday's series finale against the Los Angeles Angels and is still not ready to return despite having a day off on Thursday. Rookie Alex Freeland will make another start at the hot corner and will bat eighth for the Blue. Muncy recently returned from a stint on the injured list due to a serious knee bruise, so the Dodgers are hoping he won't have to return to the IL for his side soreness. The 34-year-old veteran is day-to-day for now. Since returning on Aug. 4, Muncy has swung the lumber well, going 8-for-23 (.348) with four long balls, nine RBI and five runs scored. Freeland has gone 6-for-34 (.176) in his first 12 big-league games and is searching for his first career home run.
