Mitch Garver Being Examined After Being Hit By Foul Ball
4 years agoMinnesota Twins catcher Mitch Garver (groin) exited Tuesday's game after being hit by a foul ball below the belt and was taken to a local hospital for examination, according to Phil Miller of the Star Tribune. On the fourth pitch of the bottom of the first inning, Orioles designated hitter Trey Mancini fouled off a pitch that went directly into Garver, who crumpled to the ground and remained down for a few moments. After talking with trainers he left the game and was replaced by Ben Rortvedt. After the game, manager Rocco Baldelli said that Garver is "not going to be catching for awhile." More details will likely be released tomorrow, but for now managers should prepare for Garver to miss at least a few games.
