Ke'Bryan Hayes Placed On 10-Day Injured List
1 year agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates placed third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes (back) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to June 25) on Wednesday with lower-back stiffness and recalled infielder Jared Triolo from Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move. Hayes hadn't played since Saturday, but hopefully he'll be able to return when he's eligible next Tuesday. He had been struggling at the plate in the last 14 days, going 9-for-42 (.214) with a homer, four RBI and 14 strikeouts in 11 games. Triolo, the team's No. 16 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is making his major-league debut at third base and is batting eighth on Wednesday against San Diego Padres left-hander Blake Snell. The former second-rounder was hitting .293 with a homer, 20 RBI and eight steals in 37 games for Indy and could see decent playing time at the hot corner until Hayes returns.
