Houston Astros outfielders Jose Altuve and Cam Smith are both out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. Cooper Hummel is making the start in left field and is batting seventh, while Chas McCormick is in right and is hitting eighth versus Diamondbacks right-hander Brandon Pfaadt. This will be Altuve's first day off since June 10. The 35-year-old nine-time All-Star continues to produce despite moving to the outfield in 2025, as he's currently batting .280 (106-for-378) with 17 home runs, 53 RBI, 55 runs and six stolen bases. He's also been hot lately, going 13-for-36 (.361) with a homer, four doubles and three RBI in the last nine games over 14 days. Hummel has faded into more of a part-time role in Houston's outfield in recent weeks, with more playing time given to both McCormick and Taylor Trammell.--Keith Hernandez
