Joe Musgrove Could Make Rehab Start Friday
2 years agoSan Diego Padres manager Bob Melvin said that starting pitcher Joe Musgrove (shoulder, toe) played catch on Tuesday and could make a minor-league rehab start as soon as Friday. Left-handed reliever Drew Pomeranz (elbow) will also make his first rehab appearance with Triple-A El Paso on Thursday. Musgrove made a rehab outing on April 6 while recovering from a fractured left big toe, but he hurt his right shoulder diving for a ball and will be out a bit longer now before making his 2023 debut. Depending on how he fares in his rehab start, the 30-year-old right-hander could make his next start for the Friars. Musgrove broke out in 2022 for fantasy managers and should be rostered in all leagues at this time.
