Joe Mixon Won't Play In Week 16
4 years agoCincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon (foot) will not return from Injured Reserve to play in Week 16 against the Texans, according to head coach Zac Taylor. "We'll see about next week," Taylor said. Mixon hasn't played since Week 6 against the Colts and is highly unlikely to return for a meaningless Week 17 game if he can't make it back this weekend. Giovani Bernard has been the Bengals primary running back ever since Mixon injured his foot, although he's left a lot to be desired in this offense minus impressive rookie quarterback Joe Burrow (knee). Bernard did carry the ball a season-high 25 times for a season-high 83 yards and a touchdown in Week 15 against the Steelers, and Houston's defense has allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to RBs in 2020. But fantasy managers can't expect a ton from this Bengals offense, making Bernard a low-end RB2/high-end RB3/flex option for championship week in fantasy.
