Jimmy Garoppolo's Practice Window Opened
4 years agoThe San Francisco 49ers opened the 21-day window for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) to practice. He's been on Injured Reserve since Nov. 5 but could be activated from IR in order to play in Week 16 against the Cardinals on Saturday, especially since Nick Mullens (elbow) needs right elbow surgery. Garoppolo has been out since Week 8, so it's unlikely that he'll be ready to go by this weekend after aggravating his high-ankle sprain. The most likely scenario is that C.J. Beathard will start under center against Arizona, which could be a good thing for San Fran's offense after Mullens turned the ball over three times in the Week 15 loss to the Cowboys. Beathard should be considered a desperation low-end QB2 this weekend in superflex leagues with Mullens out.
