J.D. Martinez Not Progressing, Out Again Thursday
2 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers designated hitter J.D. Martinez (back) isn't progressing and hasn't swung a bat in three days. He will miss yet another game on Thursday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Manager Dave Roberts said the team is hoping what started as a day-to-day injury won't require an injured list stint, but they'll have to wait and see how Martinez feels when the team gets home this week. The 35-year-old veteran slugger will miss his third straight game Thursday. David Peralta is the DH and will hit fifth against Pirates right-hander Mitch Keller. Fantasy managers need to prepare for the possibility that Martinez will miss extended time with his back injury. He's off to a .250 start (22-for-88) with nine doubles, two triples, four home runs and 15 RBI in his first 23 games with the Blue in 2023.
