Erik Jones had his best run in the NASCAR Cup Series in a very long time even if it wasn't quite his best finish. After starting 14th, Jones broke into the top ten in Stage 2 where he finished 5th before slightly fading to 7th in the race's final stage. What made this even more impressive is that his teammate John Hunter Nemechek who had looked faster in recent weeks was mostly nowhere to be seen and fell a lap down. Legacy Motor Club is beginning to come closer to their 2022 form than they ever showed in the two seasons since, and Jones's driver rating of 105.7 was his best since his win in the 2022 Southern 500. The only blemish in Jones's race came when he spun out Christopher Bell, the driver who replaced him in the Joe Gibbs Racing No. 20 car for fifth in Stage 2. While that transaction proved controversial at the time, history has proven Bell was the right choice although you could argue Jones was better in this race.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller
