Jonathan Aranda Exits Thursday With Apparent Wrist Injury
Jonathan Aranda (wrist) exited their game against the New York Yankees on Thursday with an apparent injury to his left wrist, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Aranda departed in the bottom of the fifth inning after colliding with Giancarlo Stanton. The Rays then moved Brandon Lowe to first base and brought in Jose Caballero to play second. Aranda became the third Ray to leave early on Thursday, joining fellow first baseman Yandy Diaz (forearm) and outfielder Chandler Simpson (hand). The 27-year-old Aranda has slashed .315/.394/.478 with 12 homers, 54 RBI, and 53 runs scored in 409 plate appearances during his first All-Star campaign. The hope is that he won't require a stint on the 10-day injured list, but he left Thursday's game in considerable pain.
