Mason Taylor the Clear TE1 for Jets
Mason Taylor has been the clear starter during training camp, according to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic. The second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft out of LSU already finds himself above veterans Jeremy Ruckert and Stone Smartt early in his first offseason, and star wideout teammate Garrett Wilson has taken notice. "He's got great hands, he finds a way to be open when he needs to be," Wilson said. "I think he's got a bright future ahead of him. He's really going to help us this year. He came in ready." While fantasy managers should consider Taylor as a later-round sleeper in preseason drafts, it usually takes tight ends time to develop, and the passing offense likely has limited upside and volume with Justin Fields at the helm. In deeper setups, he's worth a flyer, but it would be somewhat of a surprise if he's a consistent fantasy option in 2025. Taylor enters the NFL after snagging 55 passes for 546 yards and two touchdowns for the Tigers in 2024.
