Jesus Sanchez Traded to the Astros
Jesus Sanchez from the Miami Marlins on Thursday in exchange for right-hander Ryan Gusto, sources tell MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. The Astros get the left-handed bat they had been searching for at the deadline with All-Star outfielder Yordan Alvarez (hand) having missed most of the 2025 season. The 27-year-old Sanchez will take his .256/.320/.420 slash line with 10 home runs, 36 RBI, 40 runs and nine stolen bases to Houston for the final two months of the season. The Dominican outfielder will still probably be involved in the strong side of a platoon against righties with the Astros and he'll be joining a much better lineup, but he also figures to hit lower in the batting order with the move. Sanchez has lowered his strikeout rate and raised his walk rate but has hit .130 (7-for-54) with one of his 10 homers against lefties.
