David Johnson, Phillip Lindsay To Have Bigger Roles
3 years agoHouston Texans running backs David Johnson and Phillip Lindsay will have bigger roles moving forward after the team traded Mark Ingram II to the New Orleans Saints. Through seven weeks, Ingram led the team with 294 rushing yards despite averaging only 3.2 yards per carry. Johnson is expected to be the feature back with Ingram gone, and Lindsay should also have an expanded role. Johnson is averaging 3.9 yards per carry and has 104 yards on 27 carries and 19 catches for 154 yards and a TD on 24 targets as the third-down back. Lindsay has rushed for 97 yards on 38 carries, averaging just 2.6 yards per rush. The impending return of quarterback Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) will help this offense for sure, and Johnson's value increases with Ingram out of the picture, but he'll still be a low-upside RB4/flex in an extremely tough matchup with the Los Angeles Rams in Week 8.
