Daniel Bard Locks Down The Save In Wednesday's Win
4 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander Daniel Bard earned his sixth save of the season on Wednesday when he worked a scoreless ninth inning while striking out two in a 6-3 win over the Rangers. This was an easy save opportunity for the veteran closer, who entered in the ninth inning to protect a three-run lead. He struck out Brock Holt to start things off before getting Charlie Culberson to ground out. He then punched out Nick Solak to end the game. The 35-year-old has been shaky at times this season but he's 3-for-3 on save opportunities over the last two weeks. He's made other appearances over that span but the Rockies haven't produced many save chances this year. He's got a 4.09 ERA, 1.55 WHIP, and a 32:10 K/BB ratio over 22 innings. He's not a great option in fantasy leagues but he's serviceable if you're in need of saves as no other Colorado reliever has performed well enough to take his job.
