Chris Sale Says His Elbow Feels Good
5 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale (elbow, illness) said his left elbow is "good, really good," and he felt strong all winter after being shut down last August with pain in his throwing arm. "I feel better than I have in a long time, actually," Sale said. He also said that "no one was ever worried" that Tommy John surgery was an option, and Dr. James Andrews was confident that Sale would be fine after platelet-rich plasma injections last year. The main takeaway is that Sale's left arm is healthy, but he has gotten a late start to camp due to pneumonia, and the Red Sox won't rush him just so that he can be ready for Opening Day. Plus, Sale's arm issues from a season ago won't go away until he proves he's healthy in spring training. As of now, he's a high-risk, high-reward low-end fantasy ace.
