Blue Jays Could Add Another Free-Agent Starter
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins said the team remains active in the free-agent pitching market and suggested that there is a good chance that the Jays add another free-agent starter after re-signing lefty Robbie Ray to a one-year, $8 million deal last weekend. Toronto lost Matt Shoemaker and Taijuan Walker to free agency last month and have a need for more arms. The Blue Jays already have Ray, Hyun-Jin Ryu, Nate Pearson, Tanner Roark and Ross Stripling, but they would rather have a surplus of starters to account for the unpredictable nature of pitcher injuries. Trevor Bauer will be the top free-agent arm on the market, but Toronto may continue to shop in the mid-tier market for hurlers.
