Martin Perez Back From the Injured List
Martin Perez (elbow) from the 60-day injured list and optioned left-hander Cam Booser to Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move. In addition, the team also designated left-hander Jared Shuster for assignment. Perez made only two minor-league rehab starts and gave up three runs while striking out five and walking three in 6 2/3 innings pitched. The 34-year-old veteran southpaw has not pitched in the big leagues since late April due to a flexor strain in his left elbow, and he will return to Chicago in a long-relief role. Perez was already not much to look at in fantasy outside of AL-only leagues, and now that he's returning to a bullpen role, he can pretty much be ignored everywhere. In four starts before his injury, Perez had a decent 3.15 ERA and 1.25 WHIP with 18 K's and 11 walks in 20 innings.
