Twins Promote Right-Handed Pitching Prospect Mike Paredes to the Big League
The Minnesota Twins have promoted right-handed pitching prospect Mike Paredes to the big leagues, per MLB.com's transactions log. Paredes will take the spot of starting pitcher Bailey Ober (elbow) on the active roster. Ober was placed on the 15-day injured list on Sunday due to right elbow inflammation. Paredes has made 13 appearances (10 starts) across Double-A Wichita and Triple-A St. Paul so far in 2026, recording a 3-2 record with a 4.44 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 54 strikeouts across 48 2/3 innings. It's not yet clear whether Paredes will be used in long relief or if he will take Ober's place in the Twins' starting rotation. Paredes owns a strong 22.5% K-BB rate in the minors this season, so he could be an intriguing deep-league waiver wire target if he gets a chance to start in the big leagues. Ober's next scheduled start was slated for Thursday in Minnesota against the Kansas City Royals.
