Anthony Volpe To Hit Leadoff Again Tuesday
2 years agoNew York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that rookie shortstop Anthony Volpe will hit leadoff again on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Angels and left-hander Jose Suarez. It will be the second straight game that Volpe has hit in the leadoff spot with DJ LeMahieu also in the lineup. The 21-year-old has been playing solid defense and is a perfect 7-for-7 on his stolen base attempts in his first 16 major-league games, but he's also hitting just .191 (9-for-47) with a double, triple, home run, RBI and 16 strikeouts in 55 plate appearances. The good news is he has a modest five-game hitting streak and could be hitting leadoff for a while with outfielder Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) on the injured list.
