Andrew Benintendi on the Bench Against Lefty
Andrew Benintendi will take a seat with a left-handed pitcher on the mound in Tuesday's contest against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals. Austin Slater is starting in left field and will bat out of the two-hole against Cardinals lefty Matthew Liberatore. It's no surprise Benintendi is on the bench for this one, as he's hit just .172 (5-for-29) with two of his six home runs and 10 strikeouts in 32 plate appearances against southpaws this year. The 30-year-old veteran isn't much more than outfield depth in AL-only leagues at this point in his career. Slater has missed time due to injury in 2025 and has also been a non-factor in fantasy leagues, batting .208 (10-for-48) with two home runs, four RBI and six runs scored in 25 games in his first year in Chicago. He has two hits in three career at-bats against Liberatore.
