Alex Smith Hasn't Been Ruled Out For Week 16
4 years agoThe Washington Football Team is hoping that quarterback Alex Smith (calf) can practice in some capacity this week. He's currently being considered day-to-day and hasn't been ruled out for Week 16 against the Panthers. Smith wasn't able to do much in practice last week, but the team prioritized rest of repetitions. This week might be a bit of a different story for the veteran QB, but if he can get in some limited practices, he'll have a shot at playing versus Carolina. The matchup is a good one and Smith has made Washington a top-10 offense in his five starts, but his ceiling is pretty low from a fantasy perspective, especially if he plays through his calf injury. Whoever starts for Washington this weekend will be a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues. Dwayne Haskins, who was partying maskless in a strip club on social media, may be facing league discipline, so if Smith and Haskins aren't available, it'd be Taylor Heinicke getting the start.
