Albert Suarez Not Starting On Saturday
4 months agoBaltimore Orioles right-hander Albert Suarez will not make his next scheduled start this Saturday at Camden Yards against the division-rival Boston Red Sox. Instead, the O's have decided to call up left-handed pitching prospect Cade Povich to make the start. Suarez has bounced around back and forth between the starting rotation and bullpen this year for Baltimore, so this is nothing new for him. He hasn't allowed a run with 11 strikeouts and three walks in his last two starts against the Blue Jays and Rays, so it's a curious decision to turn to Povich, who hasn't looked great early in his MLB career. The 34-year-old could just be getting pushed back for some extra rest, though. It remains to be seen. Suarez has been solid in 2024 in 24 outings (16 starts) for Baltimore, posting a 3.39 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP and a 72:33 K:BB in 90 1/3 innings in just his third year in the big leagues.
