49ers Releasing Mohamed Sanu
4 years agoThe San Francisco 49ers are releasing wide receiver Mohamed Sanu on Tuesday, according to a source. Sanu wasn't needed with some of the team's younger players getting healthy at the position. The 31-year-old veteran will look to latch on with another receiver-needy team with a quarter of the season already in the books. In three games with San Fran, Sanu caught his only target for nine yards. He was a huge disappointment for the Patriots last year after they acquired him from Atlanta, catching 26 passes for 207 yards and a touchdown in eight games in the second half of the season. Deebo Samuel (foot) returned in Week 4 after having foot surgery, while rookie Brandon Aiyuk has displayed nice after-the-catch ability in the passing game, making Sanu expendable.
