NHL DFS Lineup Picks for DraftKings, FanDuel (11/12): Value Plays, Goalies, Stacks

Chris Wassel's top DraftKings and FanDuel NHL DFS value plays and research for November 12th, including DFS analysis for goalies, power plays, and stacks.

The NHL season has hit TGIF! Some hockey trends have established themselves but many are still to come. As always, I'll give you the best tools to succeed and the info you need to build the best lineups possible for your GPP and cash game NHL contests on both DraftKings and FanDuel.

Today I'll be bringing you my NHL lineup picks, analysis, and advice for NHL DFS contests on DraftKings and FanDuel starting on Friday, November 12th, 2020 at 7:00 PM. Be sure to also check out our awesome NHL tools including our Lineup Optimizer, Research Station, Projections, and DFS Cheat Sheets!

If you have any questions on today's slate, bankroll management, GPP strategy, Cash game strategy, or anything else don’t hesitate to email me [email protected] or via Twitter @ChrisWasselDFS or in our premium slack chat. Good luck, RotoBallers!

NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 11/12

We feature a five-game slate, featuring the Edmonton Oilers, Chicago Blackhawks, Carolina Hurricanes, and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

There is some news worth mentioning. The Edmonton Oilers are on the back end of a back-t0-back. Washington and Calgary are as well on Friday night.

The goal will be to keep things as simple as possible. Our focus will be as much on interactions on social media and in chatrooms. This is because news and numbers have become that fluid now. Everything changes at a breakneck pace.

Vegas Odds for the Day

NHL DFS Goalies

Frederik Andersen - DK $8.0K || FD $8.0K

Opponent - Philadelphia Flyers

The projected goaltender for the Carolina Hurricanes enjoys another home start. He is 9-1 in his first ten decisions for his new team. Andersen is facing just 28 shots per 60 and already has one shutout on the season. Philadelphia was shut out on Wednesday night by Jack Campbell and the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Flyers are a team that can score lights out or the lights go out on them. Andersen has had little work over his last four starts as he has seen just 98 shots in all. Philadelphia is one of the few teams that can put up 30+ shots on Carolina.

Marc-Andre Fleury - DK $8.5K || FD $7.4K

Opponent - Arizona Coyotes

The Arizona Coyotes are not just bad. They are Buffalo Sabres last decade worse. Arizona has scored 21 goals on the season while allowing 54 in 13 games. Marc-Andre Fleury has had three quality starts in his last five games. Chicago, defensively, is frustrating to play in front of. However, Fleury gradually is adapting better. He stopped 42 of 44 shots in his last start as Fleury stopped the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 on Tuesday night. Arizona will not put up 44 shots so Fleury will have to be ready when the Coyotes do get their scoring chances.

Stay tuned during the day for potential goaltending pivots.

NHL DFS Centers

Connor McDavid - DK $9.2K || FD $9.9K

Opponent - Buffalo Sabres

The idea is it does not matter if it is back-to-back or not. One plays Connor McDavid anyway. Plus, the opponent is a Buffalo Sabres team that is starting to show signs of wear. Also, Dustin Tokarski is starting and not Craig Anderson. McDavid will not be too pleased after being repeatedly tripped all over creation in Boston. Even with McDavid, one can stack an Evan Boucher or Darnell Nurse or Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, etc. It does not have to be just Leon Draisaitl. Though if one wants to double-centre on FanDuel, it is not a bad move.

Elias Lindholm- DK $6.5K || FD $7.6K

Opponent - Toronto Maple Leafs

Elias Lindholm is shooting the puck more and getting rewarded for it. The center has seven goals and 37 shots on goal in 12 games this season. Overall, he has 14 points on the season and anchors the top unit at even-strength and on the Flames' power-play. The center has eight special-team points on the season including seven on the man advantage. Lindholm is proving that the last couple of seasons are not a fluke. IF anything, he keeps getting better and better. Toronto will have its hands full trying to slow down that line.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Sillinger (DK $4.2K || FD $4.4K), Toews (DK $4.4K || FD $5.0K)

NHL DFS Wings

Patrick Kane - DK $7.5K || FD $8.8K

Opponent - Arizona Coyotes

There are just a few different ways to look at possible additions to a lineup. Kane's slanted DraftKings price is one of those such necessities. His production combined with how many DFS points per game Arizona allows to wingers is a big reason (30th overall). Kane has 3+ shots in every single game this season while averaging 4.8 shots on goal per contest. Those are Ovechkin-like numbers as he has more than five scoring chances per game also. Why mess around with a good thing? Kane is going to get plenty of chances on Friday night.

Andrei Svechnikov - DK $7.2K || FD $8.7K

Opponent - Philadelphia Flyers

This is one of the more advantageous plays on this short slate. Svechnikov averages more than four shots a game and nearly four scoring chances a night on the road. Despite that, he has five goals in five home games while averaging just 2.8 shots per game. It is odd and then there is odd. Svechnikov has no goals in his previous four contests and looks poised to break out. Philadelphia is prone to struggle and this is not a good matchup for them. Svechnikov should have quite a few quality opportunities on Friday night at home.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Bjorkstrand (DK $6.2K || FD $6.7K, Atkinson (DK $5.2K || FD $5.8K), Hyman (DK $6.1K || FD $7.0K), Mangiapane (DK $4.4K || FD $5.0K).

NHL DFS Defensemen

Shayne Gostisbehere - DK $4.8K || FD $4.8K

Opponent - Chicago Blackhawks

The Arizona Coyotes' defenseman is a reasonable floor play plus option on Friday night. Consider the fact that he has seven points in his last five games and has been the Arizona offense for what feels like two weeks now. He has been playing about 19 minutes a night and getting great looks at the net. That is all one can ask for when playing on such a below-average team. With the Chicago Blackhawks also slightly inept defensively, Gostisbehere should have his fair share of chances on Friday night when it comes to padding his offensive totals.

Darnell Nurse- DK $6.0K || FD $6.2K

Opponent - Buffalo Sabres

The quest to keep things simple points us to Darnell Nurse. All Nurse does is shoot the puck to the tune of 42 shots as of Thursday evening. It is something to see but the defenseman has a ton of assists and no goals. This is not from a lack of effort as the defender fills all the other categories on the stat sheet. The Buffalo Sabres are a prime matchup as a young team who is prone to mistakes. This could be one of those higher-scoring games on Friday night.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Bouchard (DK $4.9K || FD $4.3K), Jones (DK $6.6K || FD $6.6K), Braun (DK $3.6K || FD $3.7K)

NHL DFS Top Power Plays and Stacks

  • EDM1
  • CHI2
  • ANA1 (Keep the faith with the bender!)
  • CGY1

Chris’s Line Stack of the Day

CGY: Lindholm-Tkachuk-Gaudreau

Obvious Stack

EDM: McDavid-Draisaitl-Bouchard (If Power Play units hold)

Sneaky Stack

CLB: Bjorkstrand-Jenner-Werenski (use the D here)

Please keep in mind that there will be many shifts in lines with most teams especially early. COVID and injuries have tended to shift things all-around in morning skates. Be mindful.
