Friday is going to be a fun night in the NBA. We have Game 3 between the Knicks and Pacers, followed by Game 3 between the Timberwolves and Nuggets. Those two matchups also leave us with DFS slates to participate in on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Today's NBA DFS Core Picks

The Nuggets are down 0-2 with their series against the Timberwolves shifting to Minnesota. The Timberwolves defense has been suffocating, including holding the Nuggets to 80 points in Game 2. Still, Nikola Jokic finished Game 2 with 16 points, 16 rebounds, and eight assists. As he tries to help the Nuggets avoid a 0-3 series deficit, look for Jokic to have an extremely high floor.

Anthony Edwards has been very efficient, shooting 57.6 percent from the field and 82.4 percent from the charity stripe over the last four games. After scoring 43 points in Game 1 against the Nuggets, he posted 27 points, seven assists, and two steals in Game 2. As the driving force behind the Timberwolves’ scoring attack, Edwards remains one of the most appealing options in DFS.

The Knicks are up 2-0 on the Pacers, but it hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows for them. Jalen Brunson is battling a foot injury and OG Anunoby (hamstring) has already been ruled out for Friday. Josh Hart has played every minute of the first two games of this series and probably won’t come off the floor again. With his averages of 18.0 points, 12.8 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks during the Knicks’ playoff run, he is one of the safest options for this slate.

  1. Nikola Jokic, DEN at MIN – C ($11,200 DK; $12,000 FD)
  2. Anthony Edwards, MIN vs. DEN – SG/SF ($9,300 DK; $10,300 FD)
  3. Josh Hart, NY at IND – SF/PF ($7,700 DK; $8,300 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Value Picks

With Mitchell Robinson (ankle) likely out for the remainder of the playoffs, Isaiah Hartenstein is going to play a ton for the Knicks. He logged 39 minutes in Game 2, finishing with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists. He showed a versatile skill set when filling in for Robinson during the regular season, and while his salary isn’t overly cheap on FanDuel, he could provide tremendous value on DraftKings.

The Pacers have played better when T.J. McConnell has been on the floor. After producing 18 points and three steals in Game 1, he recorded 10 points, four rebounds, and 12 assists in Game 2. He provides tremendous energy off the bench and should continue to be a problem for a Knicks team that could have tired legs because of their limited depth.

Robinson and Anunoby being sidelined should lead to added minutes for Precious Achiuwa. He logged 28 minutes in Game 2, posting eight points and five rebounds along the way. He could surpass 30 minutes in this game, which is an important threshold for him. During the regular season, he averaged 12.3 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks across 16 games in which he logged at least 30 minutes.

Top Value Plays:

  1. Isaiah Hartenstein, NY at IND – C ($5,700 DK; $7,000 FD)
  2. T.J. McConnell, IND vs. NY – PG ($4,800 DK; $5,300 FD)
  3. Precious Achiuwa, NY at IND – PF/C ($4,100 DK; $5,000 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Picks: Point Guard

Tyrese Haliburton was only shooting 42.9 percent from the field in the playoffs heading into Game 2. That was uncharacteristic for him, given that he shot 47.7 percent during the regular season. He finally caught fire in Game 2, shooting 11-of-19 from the field on his way to scoring 34 points. With his ability to rack up points and assists in bunches, he stands out as one of the top point guards to target.

Top PG Options:

  1. Tyrese Haliburton vs. NY, ($8,300 DK; $8,800 FD)
  2. T.J. McConnell vs. NY, ($4,800 DK; $5,300 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Picks: Shooting Guard

Losing Anunoby already robs the Knicks of one of their better scoring options. If Brunson is compromised, they could really be in trouble. Expect to see added playing time and shot attempts for Miles McBride, who had three games with at least 13 points in the first round against the 76ers.

Top SG Options:

  1. Anthony Edwards vs. DEN, ($9,300 DK; $10,300 FD)
  2. Miles McBride at IND, ($4,200 DK; $4,100 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Picks: Small Forward

Not only did Donte DiVincenzo average 8.7 three-point attempts per game during the regular season, but he shot 40.1 percent from behind the arc. He has nailed 11 three-pointers in this series, scoring at least 25 points in both games. His usage rate could be even higher with Anunoby out.

Top SF Options:

  1. Josh Hart at IND, ($7,700 DK; $8,300 FD)
  2. Donte DiVincenzo at IND, ($6,300 DK; $7,400 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Picks: Power Forward

Karl-Anthony Towns stepped up in Game 2 with Rudy Gobert (personal) out, scoring 27 points and hauling in 12 rebounds over 36 minutes. Gobert is set to return, but Towns still scored 20 points with Gobert in the fold for Game 1. As the main supporting scoring option for Edwards, Towns should be able to provide enough offense to justify his salary.

Top PF Options:

  1. Karl-Anthony Towns vs. DEN, ($7,000 DK; $8,000 FD)
  2. Precious Achiuwa at IND, ($5,900 DK; $5,000 FD)

Today's NBA DFS Picks: Center

The center position comes down to how you want to allocate your budget. If you’re comfortable spending up at the position, roll with Jokic. If you want to go with expensive options at guard and forward, then Hartenstein is someone to strongly consider.

Top C Options:

  1. Nikola Jokic at MIN, ($11,200 DK; $12,500 FD)
  2. Isaiah Hartenstein at IND, ($5,700 DK; $7,000 FD)

Today's Top NBA DFS Game Stacks

  1. Knicks at Pacers (222.5 total)
  2. Nuggets at Timberwolves (204.5 total)

Today's Top NBA DFS Avoids

  1. If feels wrong to say this based on how incredibly productive he has been, but I’m worried about Brunson at his hefty salary. Not only could the foot injury impact his play, but if the Knicks are getting blown out because of their limited depth chart, they could rest Brunson for a significant portion of the fourth quarter.

My Favorite NBA DFS Picks for Today

  • My favorite overall play on the slate: Josh Hart
  • My favorite CASH play on the slate: Nikola Jokic
  • My favorite GPP play on the slate: Tyrese Haliburton
  • My favorite value play: Precious Achiuwa
