MLB DFS Picks Today: Daily Fantasy Baseball Strategy and Tips For FanDuel, DraftKings (8/16/25)

Junior Caminero - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB DFS Picks

Koby's top DraftKings and FanDuel MLB DFS picks for today, Saturday, 8/16/25. His favorite daily fantasy baseball lineup sleepers and value picks for DFS on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Welcome back, RotoBallers! Happy Saturday, the weekend is here, and it is time to relax. There is a full slate of baseball for us, and we have a nine-game slate on both sites to enjoy. Time to make some cash for the rest of the weekend and stack up for the upcoming NFL season!

There are several ways to approach this slate. Luckily, the weather is looking good outside the game between the Tigers and the Twins. That one is looking like it could be a delay, so unless we see otherwise, I would stay away from that game for the most part.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 8/16/2025, with the slate starting at 7:10 PM ET. The lineup picks will showcase elite players, mid-priced options, and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is always essential.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Sonny Gray, SP - STL ($9.5K DK/$9.3K FD)

Gray has been an elite pitcher this year, and he gets a chance to show that off here against the Yankees. Luckily, they are in St. Louis, so we don't have to worry about the short porch.

He has had two immaculate games against the Dodgers and the Cubs in his last two outings, putting up seven innings with seven or more strikeouts while only giving up a run in each game. With Gray doing that against powerhouses, he should be able to do it here against the Yankees.

The Yankees have struggled against RHP this month, with the fifth-worst wRC+ of 75. That also drops down to 51 in games that are away from home. The Yankees are in a tough spot here against Gray. We should see at minimum a Quality Start from him if the Cardinals offense can get going against Max Fried. Gray should also be looking at a win here.

Jason Alexander, SP - HOU ($6.5K DK/$7.9K FD)

Alexander is my punt option of the day, and he should thrive in this spot against the lowly Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles have massively struggled this month against RHP. They have posted a wRC+ of 45 ... as well as a wOBA of .231 and SLG of .250. They have mightily struggled since dealing away some of their lineup.

Alexander has done well in his last two starts, including wins against the Yankees and Marlins. Alexander isn't a big strikeout guy, as he has posted a 17% K% this season, but the Orioles have also put up a 26.6% K% in the last two weeks. He likely won't wow anyone, but this is a good spot for Alexander to excel in and likely get the win, with the Astros taking on Cade Povich.

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Shea Langeliers, C - ATH ($5.9K DK/$3.5K FD)

Once again, Langeliers is put in a great spot. He lines up against another lefty today after going yard against one last night in Yusei Kikuchi. He gets Tyler Anderson in this one, who I believe is significantly worse. Against LHP, Langeliers has a wRC+ of 175, a wOBA of .426, and an absurd SLG of .620.

Combine all that with the hot weather and the winds blowing out to left field at nearly 14 mph. This is a home run play for Langeliers and probably one of the best spots for a hitter on the entire slate of baseball today.

Geraldo Perdomo, SS - ARZ ($5.8K DK/$4.1K FD)

Perdomo is going to be my pick from the Diamondbacks. Outside of last night's game, he had 11 hits in six games. He had been crushing the ball and now gets an opportunity against rookie Chase Dollander, who has mightily struggled at home this season.

Perdomo has hit 11 of his 13 home runs off RHP this season, and we could see him get another one here in Coors. Perdomo has pushed out a .456 SLG to go with a .366 wOBA against RHP this season, and we should see that increase here with how hot he has been hitting the ball.

Junior Caminero, 3B - TB ($5.7K DK/$3.7K FD)

Caminero is hotter than the sun right now. He has seven home runs in his last eight games. In total, he has 13 hits in that time as well. Caminero has hit RHP pretty well this season, too; 24 of his 34 home runs have come off RHP. He is also sporting a .360 wOBA and a .545 SLG against them this season.

He is going against old man Justin Verlander in this one. Verlander has been hit equally hard against both sides of the plate, but he has been hit harder at home this season. Caminero is in another world with his hitting right now, and I'm not going to stop rostering him. He is a great one-off to have in your lineups.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Lourdes Gurriel Jr., OF - ARI ($5.5K DK/$3.6K FD)

I think a lot of people will lean toward playing Corbin Carroll in this spot. I do, however, like him quite a bit, especially on FD, where he is over $1K cheaper! Dollander has been equally bad against both sides of the plate, and Gurriel has seen 12 of his 15 home runs come off RHP.

He already has one home run in this series, and with Dollander on the mound, I wouldn't be surprised to see another one. The Diamondbacks carry a 6.8 IRT, and the top of the lineup is going to have plenty of time to make that come true. We could see Dollander's home ERA push upward of 10 after this matchup.

Jose Altuve, 2B/OF (FD) - HOU ($5.2K DK/$3.1K FD)

I've never been a big Altuve guy, but he finds himself in a great matchup here against Povich. Altuve has a .360 wOBA and a .487 SLG against LHP this season, which is nearly 20 points higher in both than against RHP. Altuve has struggled a bit at home in this current homestand, but I expect that to turn around here against Povich.

Povich has been terrible against both sides of the plate and, oddly enough, has some pretty bad reverse splits. That won't matter as much here with the Astros having a pretty right-handed-heavy lineup.

He has been terrible against righties as well, though, with a .330 wOBA and a .426 SLG against them this season. Altuve is very good at pulling the ball, and that benefits well here at Daikin Park. If he can get one in the air, we could see him going yard in this one.

Chandler Simpson, OF - TB ($4.8K DK/$2.9K FD)

Simpson has been great at putting the ball in play across his last five games. He has 10 hits and two walks in his previous five. He also has two stolen bases in that time. His ability to get on base creates plenty of opportunities for Simpson to steal bases and get around them faster, especially with him leading off more often now.

Verlander has given up a .361 wOBA this season to LHH. That number jumps nearly 20 points at home as well. Simpson has too many chances to make plays and increase his fantasy score in every at-bat. Take him while he remains affordable on FanDuel.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

1. Arizona Diamondbacks (Implied Run Total - 6.8) vs. Chase Dollander

I hate to go with the obvious, but the Diamondbacks in Denver is just money. They will be expensive, but if you get the right stack, you can push yourself into the cash extremely easily. Dollander has a 9.37 ERA at home this season, and the poor kid has been slugged to death. Both sides of the plate have had their way with him. The lefties are just a little bit more.

Favorite Combo: Gurriel Jr., Carroll, Marte, Perdomo

2. Athletics (Implied Run Total - 5.5) vs. Tyler Anderson

This is just a bad pitcher vs. bad pitcher matchup in this one. This could be a bloodbath with Anderson taking the mound against a hot Athletics team that loves to hit on LHP. This month, they have racked up a wRC+ of 144 with a SLG of .519! This is a great spot for the Athletics to blow up Anderson and get him out of the game early.

Favorite Combo: Langeliers, Rooker, Butler, Hernaiz

3. Houston Astros (Implied Run Total - 4.8) vs. Cade Povich

The Astros have been lighting up LHP this month as well, to the tune of a wRC+ of 126. Povich has been pretty lackluster this season, and he is going to struggle against this RHH-heavy lineup with the Astros. The Astros will need to bounce back after a bad showing against Brandon Young last night.

Favorite Combo: Altuve, Correa, Smith, Diaz
