Justin Jefferson vs. Amon-Ra St. Brown – Who Should I Draft In 2024 Fantasy Football?

Amon-Ra St. Brown - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Should fantasy players draft Justin Jefferson or Amon-Ra St. Brown during their 2024 fantasy football drafts? Danny Boily examines the case for both superstar running backs.

Last season, Justin Jefferson was the clear-cut No.1 overall pick in most drafts, but with the injury and questionable quarterback play after Kirk Cousins went down, he finished nowhere near that spot.

Amon-Ra St. Brown continued his rise as a bonafide fantasy football star and is now a no-brainer first-round draft pick for managers in 2024.

Which wide receiver should fantasy managers draft in 2024? Let’s break down their outlooks for the upcoming season.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Justin Jefferson’s 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Justin Jefferson, considered by many as the NFL's premier wide receiver, dominated the league in 2022 with 1,809 receiving yards, 128 receptions, and 12 touchdowns, securing the WR1 spot in fantasy football.

In 2023, everyone remembers the injury (before 2023, he never missed a game) and Kirk Cousins not being at quarterback. While that hurt Jefferson's managers last year, he was still WR1 through the first four weeks of the season until being injured. As he returned from his injury, Jefferson regained his breakaway ability in Week 18, scoring 31.20 points to end the season. While quarterback play is the primary concern for managers, Jefferson's talent can overcome this possible hurdle.

Amon-Ra St. Brown’s 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Amon-Ra St. Brown has emerged as a fantasy football darling over the past two seasons, getting better statistically each year. In 2023, he amassed 1,515 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, finishing as the overall WR3. St. Brown’s 17.34 fantasy points per game average was impressive, and his ability to rack up 119 receptions (hello PPR formats) made him a highly valuable asset.

While being a target machine, St. Brown's one concern is his lack of explosiveness compared to the other receivers in round one. Last season, he finished with only 7.8 air yards per target, which resulted in him being the WR79 in that statistical category.

With the return of Jared Goff as the quarterback and the innovative strategies of Detroit’s offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, St. Brown's potential for improvement is significant.

Who Should I Draft in Fantasy Football?

Choosing between  Jefferson and St. Brown is like deciding between a Lamborghini and a Ferrari – you can’t go wrong with either. However, Jefferson edges out St. Brown if we have to pick a winner.

Jefferson’s proven track record as the WR1 and his consistent ability to score on any play gives him a clear advantage. While St. Brown is an elite option with a high floor who racks up receptions, Jefferson’s reliable production of massive yardage and touchdowns makes him the safer and more explosive choice.

Draft Jefferson if you want the best chance at securing the highest-scoring wide receiver in fantasy football. However, rest assured,  St. Brown is an elite receiver in his own right. He will consistently deliver strong fantasy performances week in and week out, making him a great alternative if Jefferson is off the board.
