FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (5/7/18): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

We have a small Monday slate, with a lot of pitchers that haven't been easy to pick on this season. With tight pricing, finding value hitters will be difficult. However, there are two pretty easy choices as building blocks at starting pitcher in Stephen Strasburg and Kyle Hendricks, both of which have desirable matchups. There are also a few stacks with relatively low prices that jump out immediately, with Giants left-handed batters and te Detroit Tigers most prominent among them.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel on 5/7/18. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

You can also read more DFS lineup picks for DraftKings and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me on Twitter @DanMarcus3.

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Kyle Hendricks- SP, vs. MIA ($7,900)

Hendricks has been steady this through six starts, posting below 30 FD points only once. Despite still not striking out a prolific number of batters from a rate perspective, he has pitched deep enough into games to be a good cash game option. His matchup is also a positive one, as the Marlins have post a 68 wRC+ as a team against right-handed pitching this season.  With a small slate and a limited number of betters in appealing matchups, it’s worth paying down to him from Strasburg in cash game situations.

Stephen Strasburg- SP, @SD ($10,000)

Strasburg provides the upside that Hendricks lacks, making him more attractive GPP option. He’s put up 58 FD points on two occasions already this season, and has a matchup against a Padres’ lineup that has the highest strikeout among all teams against right-handed pitching at 27.9%.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Brandon Belt- 1B, @PHI ($3,800)

Belt gets should benefit from an incredible park shift, going from a home ballpark that depresses left-handed power to an extraordinary degree to one that highlights it in Citizens Bank Park. Belt has been solid for most of the season, and now gets a matchup against Zach Eflin who has allowed 2.81 HR/9 to LHB.

Also Consider: James McCann, @TEX ($2,400)

Matt Carpenter- 2B, vs. MIN ($3,400)

Second base has been the worst position for DFS purposes, with the haves and have nots clearly divided by price tag. Unless you have the cash to pay up Javier Baez -- a move I'd likely only make in GPPs due to the late Sunday Night Baseball game -- Carpenter is my preferred cash game option in the mid-tiers of pricing. Despite not getting results, he continues to hit the ball hard in the air, a combination worth coming back to.

Brandon Crawford- SS, @PHI ($2,800)

Crawford doesn’t have the same banked production as Belt, but he comes at a great price tag. His home/road splits speak volumes about the effect of AT&T Park, as he has slugged .429 on the road this season as opposed to just .339 at home. Eflin’s struggles against lefties have already been highlighted, but just in case: he’s allowed 2.81 HR/9 to LHB in his career.

Anthony Rendon - 3B, @SDP ($3,200)

Rendon is too cheap at this pricetag. Tyson Ross has pitched fairly well this season, but on a slate with with few obvious values, Rendon stands out at will likely be his cheapest price point for the remainder of the season.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Nicholas Castellanos - OF, @TEX ($3,800)

The Tigers lineup is in rough shape, but you can’t play this slate and not get exposure to them in a matchup against Matt Moore. Castellanos has a .474 wOBA and .326 ISO in his past 100 at-bats against LHP, so he’d be a good place to start.

 Shin-Soo Choo - OF, vs. DET ($3,200)

Michael Fulmer has been pretty solid this season, so this pick isn’t based on matchup. Instead, it’s another pay based on price as Choo -- like Rendon -- is being undervalued. In his last 100 PAs against RHP, he has managed a .378 wOBA and .212 ISO and his pricetag simply doesn’t match the production.

Also Consider: Chad Pinder - OF, vs. HOU ($2,500); Brandon Nimmo- OF, @ CIN ($2,700) (if in lineup)
