FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks (8/20/16): MLB DFS Advice

Chris Durell highlights the top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for 8/20/16. These are the top value and sleeper plays for your FanDuel MLB DFS lineups

Welcome to another edition of Saturday baseball. It is a bit of a weird day with two mid-late afternoon games, and 13 games in the evening. FanDuel is offering an all-day slate, and a main slate tonight. You can often gain an edge playing the all day slate if you pay attention to the news as most lineups are not released before lineups lock. Make sure to join our chat room throughout the day for the latest.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for FanDuel on 8/20/16. The DFS lineup picks will range from high-priced to low-priced options and identify options who will out-perform their expectations, including sleepers and value plays on FanDuel. Today we have a couple ace pitchers at the top with not much after that. What does this mean? We are going to have to pay for pitching in all formats and find value at multiple positions. Let's dig in.

Editor's Note: Purchase a full season NFL Premium Pass (including Draft Kit + DFS Premium), and also get MLB Premium + DFS for free through October. Premium DFS lineup picks, expert lineups, tools and more - seven days a week. You can see screenshots of our NFL Premium and MLB Premium and DFS tools. What are you waiting for?

DFS Lineup Stacks to Target for FanDuel

Chicago Cubs vs. Jeff Hoffman (Rockies) and Colorado Rockies vs. Mike Montgomery (Cubs)

The weather looks to be much better in Denver on Saturday night and game two of this series has the highest total(12) of the slate it's not close. Both teams can be targeted today in excellent matchups. The Cubs will get a big park shift and face Jeff Hoffman making his major league debut after pitching to a 4.02 ERA in 22 Triple-A starts this season. The Cubs rank 6th in wOBA and wRC+ against right handed pitching and the top stacking options are Dexter Fowler, Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Ben Zobrist and Willson Contreras.

On the other side of the ball is the home town Rockies who are always a great choice if you can afford them in Coors. They have the 5th best wOBA and 6th best Isolated Power against left handed pitching. The top options are DJ Lemahieu and Nolan Arenado who southpaws and Carlos Gonzalez also makes an intriguing option as he hits righties better but still hits with a .281 average against left handed pitchers.

Baltimore Orioles vs. Mike Fiers (Astros)

Outside of Coors the top stacking option has to be the Orioles tonight. They have scored 21 runs in their last two games and hit the eight run mark four times in their last eight games. They rank 2nd in wOBA, wRC+, and ISO against right handed pitching and face a tire fire in Mike Fiers tonight. He has given up nine earned runs including five long balls over his last two starts to push his xFIP to 4.28 for the season with an awful 16.5% HR/FB rate and 36.7% hard contact rate. Adam Jones and Hyun Soo Kim have been getting on base at the top of the order while Chris Davis, Manny Machado and Mark Trumbo have provided the power for the juggernaut offense.

Also Consider - Chicago White Sox vs. Ross Detwiler (Athletics)

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel

Max Scherzer (SP, WSH) $11,000

Before the start at Coors, Scherzer had been elite limiting opponents to two earned runs or less in 11 of his previous 13 starts. He has elevated his strikeout rate to 11.33 K/9 and gets a terrific matchup vs. the Braves who rank 29th in wOBA(.294) and 30th in wRC+(80) against right handed pitching. He is safe in all formats.

Felix Hernandez (SP, SEA) $10,400

King Felix has looked near elite in three of his last four starts limiting opponents to two earned runs or less with 30 strikeouts. He is still struggling with his control and walking way too many batters but should get a bump tonight vs. the Brewers. They rank 21st in wOBA and strike out more than any other team vs. right handed pitching.

Also Consider - Ian Kennedy (SP, KC) $8,500

DFS Infielders to Consider for FanDuel

Brian McCann (C, NYY) $3,000

He hits on every angle. He is affordable, hot lately with hits in 14 of his last 17 starts and has tremendous history against Ricky Nolasco. In 65 career at bats he has recorded 21 hits including eight home runs and 24 RBI.

Chris Davis (1B, BAL) $3,600

Crush Davis remained hot on Friday with another home run and now has four in the last three games. The Orioles offense has been clicking and Davis gets the cleanup duties and comes with huge upside for tournaments.

Jean Segura (2B, ARI) $3,600

He has been one of the hottest players in baseball over the last two weeks slashing .345/.377/.621 with two home runs, nine runs and six stolen bases. The Diamondbacks and Segura get a nice matchup on Saturday vs. Clayton Richard who has to struggled out of the bullpen this season with a 5.17 xFIP for the season.

Tim Anderson (SS, CWS) $2,900

Anderson comes at a discount and has been very consistent lately with hits in 11 of his last 12 games. He doesn't hit in the most favorable spot in the order but is always in play when facing a left handed pitcher.

Jedd Gyorko (3B, STL) $2,900

Another value play in the infield tonight. With another big game on Friday he now has 20+ FanDuel points in four of his last six games. He has bounced around the lineup and would obviously carry more value if he was to move up in the order. Monitor lineups before lock.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for FanDuel

Mookie Betts (OF, BOS) $4,500

If you are paying up for one outfielder today it has to be Betts. He has the highest floor of any player with hits in seven straight and 18 of his last 19 games. He also comes with big upside and the ability to hit the long ball with 28 HR on the season.

Mark Trumbo (OF, BAL) $3,700

Trumbo makes more of a GPP play as he can be very streaky but comes with huge upside. Since August 11th he has hit five home runs with 12 RBI and scored 20+ FanDuel points five times. While you would think to play him against southpaws he actually has very strong reverse splits with a .377 wOBA and 136 wRC+ against right handed pitchers.

Angel Pagan (OF, SF) $2,900

Pagan is just too cheap for how well he has been playing lately. With two hits on Friday he extended his hit streak to 17 games in which he has scored 9+ FanDuel points in 15 of them. He is a safe salary relief option in any format tonight.

Also Consider - Lorenzo Cain (OF, KC) $3,100
