EPL DFS Lineup Picks for FanDuel (4/21/21) - English Premier League Soccer

Vince's FanDuel EPL DFS lineup picks for English Premier League soccer on 4/21/21. His top daily fantasy soccer forwards, midfielders, defenders, goalkeepers.

Welcome back, RotoBallers! Well, that Super League thing was fun while it lasted, right? Glad we can move past that now and get back to games that matter. We finally have something other than a single-game slate in the Premier League on Wednesday. I have another full breakdown for you all. Keep reading this breakdown for my DFS soccer picks on RotoBaller and see how to have success on Wednesday's slate.

The very large majority of my DFS content will be EPL-related, however, there is more soccer than just what is being played in England. If you want to chop it up with myself and other RotoBaller writers about non-EPL leagues or other sports, consider becoming a premium member and joining our ever-growing community of DFS and fantasy sports enthusiasts!

In this article, I will be providing you with my English Premier League daily fantasy soccer lineup picks for FanDuel on 4/21/21 for the slate that locks at 1:00 pm ET. EPL DFS Lineup Picks - Overview

Tottenham vs Southampton

Tottenham (-125) is the first of two significant favorites on this two-game slate Wednesday. They remain in the race for a top-four spot but have fallen to 7th now with just one win in their last five EPL games. They host a Southampton team that have struggled in the second half of the season. Southampton have been particularly poor on the road which bodes well for Tottenham in this game. The goal total over/under is 2.5.

Aston Villa vs Manchester City

Manchester City (-280) are big road favorites against Aston Villa in the late game. City have not mathematically locked up the PL title yet, but it won't take much to do so. They have technically lost their last two games played in England (a 2-1 loss to a 10-man Leeds team and then a 1-0 FA Cup loss to Chelsea), but they have two recent 2-1 wins against Dortmund in UCL play. They should take care of this Aston Villa squad who have just one win in their last six games. The goal total over/under is 2.5 which is on the lower end for a Manchester City game recently.

FanDuel DFS Forwards / Midfielders

Tottenham is almost surely without Harry Kane ($22) in this game, which puts Son Heung-Min ($20) right near the top of my player pool. Their attack will rely heavily on both his ability to create and his ability to finish. After going cold for a while, Son has two nice games in a row with three chances created in each and a goal against Manchester United a week and a half ago. He faces a Southampton defense that is poor - especially on the road - and he has the best anytime scoring odds in this game outside of Kane at -110. I'll take a chance on Gareth Bale ($16) for his goal upside as a secondary Tottenham attacker in this matchup, but I'm not considering anyone outside of these two.

Aston Villa's defense is not something I really want to attack that much because they have been solid at home, but some exposure to City's dominant attacking group is needed on a small slate like this. Riyad Mahrez ($21) gets a big bump up with Kevin de Bruyne ($20) on the shelf for the time being. He has established a nice floor over the last two months, and he has four goals in that time period as well. Ilkay Gundogan ($15) also gets a nice bump up without KDB on the field. His price has come back down slightly due to some less playing time recently, but he should be a full go here. Phil Foden ($17) is the other City piece I am looking at here. He is far more affordable than Gabriel Jesus ($21) and has similar scoring odds.

James Ward-Prowse ($16) is someone I'm going to turn to for some non-TOT/MCI exposure. He's not a contrarian play by any means, but he's a good mid-tier option who has a solid floor with his attacking and defensive peripherals. He also has decent goal/assist upside with his duty on free kicks.

From a value perspective, Marvelous Nakamba ($7) sticks out the most. He can get all kinds of defensive stats at a better rate than any other expected starter in this price range. His best stats are tackles and interceptions which are the two defensive stats Tottenham force most often.

FanDuel DFS Defenders

Joao Cancelo ($15) went through a tough stretch fantasy-wise, but he has two straight 20+ point games. He is back to creating more chances now which is so valuable for him. Cancelo can pick up a few defensive stats here too in a decent matchup against Villa. What's even better is a possible clean sheet bonus here. Aside from three goals against Fulham, Villa have not scored more than one goal in a game since January 27. They're still without their best attacker too.

I expect Jannik Vestergaard ($14) to turn in another good fantasy game here. He's been racking up defensive stats with 16.1 fantasy points on average in his last six games. Tottenham force all four defensive stats that count on FanDuel at an average rate, and Vestergaard can get all four defensive stats well. He should continue his nice run of games on Wednesday.

Matt Targett ($10) will continue to be my favorite dollar-per-dollar Aston Villa defender to play until price tags change. He gets the defensive peripherals at a similar - or better - rate than the two guys priced above him. This is a strong matchup for him against City who allow the most combined defensive stats on the slate.

Kyle Walker ($7) is pretty cheap here. He has some upside with a few chances created here and there, but the real interest for me comes elsewhere. At this price, he needs just a few defensive stats to outscore his price tag. He can easily score double what he costs with a clean sheet bonus - which is a decent possibility here.

FanDuel DFS Goalkeepers

Ederson ($13) comes out as my top GK on the slate. City's defense has been the best all year long. Even on the road, they allow only 0.53 goals per game. Like I mentioned above, Aston Villa have been struggling to score recently and are still without Grealish. Ederson is the most likely GK to get the win bonus and the clean sheet bonus. Villa should still be able to force him into making a few saves too. He has big potential here.

Thanks for reading my EPL DFS lineup picks breakdown on RotoBaller and good luck!
