EPL DFS Lineup Picks - Overview
Fulham vs West Brom
The early game on Monday is a meeting of two of the teams that got promoted from the Championship prior to this season. Fulham (+135) are very slight favorites at home in this one. These sides played to draws in their two meetings last season. They are both off to very poor starts this season as both are winless in league play which could have them both back in the Championship next year. This should be a pretty evenly-played match. The goal total over/under is 2,2.5.
Leeds vs Leicester
This should be a fun matchup of two top-half squads. Vegas is predicting this game to be incredibly even with Leeds (+150) very slightly favored on the money line as they host Leicester (+165). Both teams are coming into this one with pretty average form. The goal total over/under is 2.5,3, which is higher than the first game.
With two games that will be hard-fought and fairly even, there is no clear way to stack this slate making it an ideal day to build a balanced roster.
FanDuel DFS Forwards / Midfielders
Jamie Vardy ($21) is the top stud on this slate. He has had the most prolific goalscoring career of any of the top-tier guys on Monday's slate. Vardy led the league in goals last year and is off to a good start again this season with six goals in five games. He will face a Leeds defense that has not been that great this year. They are allowing 1.5 goals per game this year, and they have only kept one clean sheet this season against Sheffield. The biggest drawback to playing Vardy on Monday is going to be chalk-level ownership.
Patrick Bamford ($20) has also been great to start this season with six goals in six games including a hattrick last time out. He has definitely asserted himself as a top goalscorer so far, but this matchup might be more difficult than it seems. Leicester has allowed eight goals in six league games so far, however, five of those came in one chunk against Manchester City. That means they're only allowing 0.6 goals per game to non-City teams. While Bamford is viable here, it could be a good time to fade him at high ownership with Leicester's defense providing more of a challenge. For the price, I prefer Jack Harrison ($15). Goals will not be easy to come by against Leicester, but you can get a guy like Harrison who is cheaper and doesn't need goals to have fantasy value. Harrison has 13 chances created in his last three games which is a great rate.
Aleksandar Mitrovic ($17) is a really nice mid-tier option for goal upside. He gets a great home matchup against West Brom who have one of the league's worst defenses (2.33 goals allowed/game). Mitrovic has not appeared in one of my articles yet this year, but if you were playing EPL DFS two years ago, you will recognize his name. He is a proven goal scorer who had 26 goals in the Championship last season and 11 for Fulham the year before that in the Premier League before their relegation. Mitrovic is the most likely anytime scorer in this game at +110, and he definitely has brace upside in this matchup.
With Fulham at home, getting a secondary attacking piece against a weak defense like West Brom is a good strategy. Ademola Lookman ($14) is a good place to find that, but Tom Cairney ($7) provides some stellar value here.
Sticking in this same game, West Brom attackers like Matheus Pereira ($16) and Karlan Grant ($13) are good plays on Monday. Fulham's defense is nearly as bad as West Brom's which makes this game completely stackable. Pereira has a stronger floor with his peripherals, however, Grant brings more goal upside and just scored last weekend too. West Brom struggle to get much going attacking-wise, so I don't think it is necessary to roster both of these guys.
FanDuel DFS Defenders
Antonee Robinson ($9) is one of my favorite dollar-for-dollar plays on the entire slate. He has three straight 14+ point games, and he comes with solid attacking upside as he creates 2.0 chances per game. Attacking is something he should have the freedom to do in this game at home against a weaker WBA backline.
Stuart Dallas ($12) has been re-classified on FanDuel to a defender. He would be a nice value play for this price if he was a MID on this slate, but I'm still willing to pay $12 for him for what he can do.
Wes Morgan ($6) is very cheap on Monday. He should be busy in an away matchup against a team that attacks a lot like Leeds. He does not need many defensive stats to hit value at this low price. Morgan can provide some much-needed salary-relief on Monday. His fellow Leicester defender, Wesley Fofana ($11), is the last defender in my player pool for this slate. He has two straight starts now with the injuries to other Leicester defenders, and he has finished with 14+ fantasy points in both games. He has more upside than Morgan, but you'll have the find the extra $5 to get it.
FanDuel DFS Goalkeepers
All four goalkeepers on this slate are affordable, and the difference between them on paper is minor. The decision of who to roster on Monday for many will come down to how the rest of your lineup is built. For example, if you are fading West Brom attackers on the road, Alphonse Areola ($11) makes sense as a home favorite. However, his defense at Fulham has been equally as bad as West Brom's.
Another possible strategy is fading Vardy and other Leicester attackers on the road and picking Illan Meslier ($10) as your GK as a home favorite as well. However, a Vardy fade can be tough to stomach. Therefore, taking Kasper Schmeichel ($9) for even cheaper might be a better strategy. Leicester might not be favored, but they are the better team and Schmeichel is the best GK on the slate. He has good upside for a $9 GK on Monday.
