YellaWood 500: DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy NASCAR Lineup Picks

For the second time this year, I'm sitting at my house on Talladega weekend, and I do not like it. This is the race that I bring the Garage Guys Energy to year after year in the thick of the NASCAR Playoffs. Watching this race from a screen does have it's advantages though, so I'm staying positive and preparing for the 2021 season (please leave the earth Corona).

The YellaWood 500 should be wild, but in reality, the new package at superspeedways has shown us that it doesn't want to get silly. Drivers basically have to fight the force of asphalt god to make any action happen, and that can cause issues if a pretty clean race occurs at Talladega while playing the superspeedway DFS strategy.

What Drew and I discussed on the latest NASCAR DFS Preview Show was a new strategy to go along with the old one. I call it "The Mixture" (AKA Mix Shure), and it balances a normal race strategy with the "Front To Back" place differential plays that allowed us to cash in big over the years. The picks below are obviously my favorites (and I want you to play them), but please remember to play at least 10 lineups this weekend to have the best chance at bagging.

Austin Dillon #3

(DraftKings $7,300 | FanDuel $8,000 | DK Sportsbook +3300)

Dillon has looked really good in the NASCAR Playoffs this season, and I feel like we will see him advance to the "Round of 8". He needs to get a win for my claim to be true, and with everything clicking in Dillon's garage, this could be the weekend he punches the ticket. Dillon hasn't been a superior driver at superspeedways over the years, but he has won the Daytona 500, and my gut tells me to roll with the 3 car this Sunday.

Joey Logano #22

(DraftKings $10,300 | FanDuel $11,600 | DK Sportsbook +1000)

Logano is arguably one of the best superspeedway races in the cup series, and almost always has a great run at this track. Joseph L has led 255 laps at Dega over the past three years, and has only one finish outside of the Top 10 since October of 2017 at this track. Logano will be starting in P8 on Sunday, and he will be a huge part of my "Mix Shure" strategy.

Ryan Blaney #12

(DraftKings $9,100 | FanDuel $12,000 | DK Sportsbook +1000)

Is the third time really a charm? Blaney starts from P14 on Sunday, and has won the past two races at Dega with blazing speed. Even though Blaney has had bad luck that pushed him out of the playoffs, he will still be competing for the chance to show his dominance with the four-peat.

Chase Elliott #9

(DraftKings $10,500 | FanDuel $11,800 | DK Sportsbook +1000)

Elliott is another big guy with the opportunity to win you some cash this weekend, and possibly a guaranteed appearance in the next round of the playoffs. Chase has a similar record to Logano at this track, and is no doubt the fan-favorite when present in the heart of Alabama. Look for Elliott to be hot early on starting in P10.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. #47

(DraftKings $8,800 | FanDuel $11,000)

Stenhouse Jr. is enjoying his birthday boi weekend (October 2nd) close to home, and as a previous winner at this track along with a Top 3 finish in April, Stenhouse Jr. is a must-play on the slate. We joke a-lot about Stenhouse Jr. being a "Wreck Master", but the reality is that he's only had an accident at this track twice since the start of his Cup Series career. Ricky is rolling off from P26 on Sunday, and can make up ground fast in that 47 JTG Chevy racing machine.

Bubba Wallace #43

(DraftKings $7,700 | FanDuel $6,600)

It's time for Bubba to lay it all on the line, and his opportunity to strike is now! Wallace is starting from P27 behind Stenhouse Jr. on Sunday, and should be able to draft off of him well to ride the lightning like a true show stopper. If all goes well, I have no doubt we could see a Top 5 for Richard Petty Motorsports this weekend.

Tyler Reddick #8

(DraftKings $7,900 | FanDuel $9,600)

Tyler "Red Dog" Reddick has a HOT starting position for Sunday, and will more than likely be a popular play starting P30. I don't think I've ever seen drivers with this good of equipment start this far back, so it will either be an absolute mess in their area, or the strategy will live on and we will all celebrate by taking a night out on the town.  Go for the gold with Tyler this weekend, because you bet he's gonna send it, but way cleaner this time around.

Corey LaJoie #32

(DraftKings $6,700 | FanDuel $5,500)

LaJoie is always my favorite punt play of the Superspeedway slates due to experience and his equipment being a little better than the immediate competition. "It's sort of like running your own race" is what LaJoie had to say to us the last time we had him on our show, but I feel like his worries are gone with rumors swirling about him securing a ride next season. Corey will start in P29 on Sunday, and if you haven't noticed, all four of my place differential plays are lumped together by starting position so get ready for a draft pack to take these guys to the top.
